"Hi!" I chirp as my hair falls upside down, I am dangling my head down a hole in the floor.
"Where's the queen? She ok?"
"She's fine! She's home now," omega says calmly. I sigh in relief.
"Gimme a sec," I pop my head back up and comb my fingers through my hair till it gets where it's supposed to be. I stand up and hurry down the stairs back to the classroom, no way am I climbing back through that tiny ass hole. I give omega a tight hug before turning to the fire monster.
"I used to know you, I think," I raise a brow. "Who are you?" I hear a gasp and turn, its that robot. "And who are you because I think I used to know you too."
"Memory losssss, she doesn't remember much from before she woke up on that table," a purple spider monster steps forward. "What are you?" She asks me.
"A soldier," I say without hesitation.
"What's your name?"
"Delta."
"See," she turns to the group.
"She's got the fail safe, a thing in the back of her neck," as she talks my hand subconsciously travels to the back of my neck. "If she remembers too much it'll release the serum and wipe her again, each time the effects are stronger and stronger, and eventually permanent," she says the last part quietly.
"How do you know all this?"
"I work in a lab back at camp, come on, alphys can take a look at you." She says I take a step back towards the door. My head nods slowly, my mind is racing a million miles my anxiety is escalating quickly. We walk in silence, I feel everyone watching me, damn I feel helpless.
"Stop scratching," omega tells me, I look down, my arm is scratched and clawed at. I did that? I shake the thought from my head and roll down my sleeve. What the hell is wrong with me? I was cool just a few minutes ago. Maybe I wasn't expecting to make it this far, maybe I just wasn't thinking about what would happen if I actually found the fire monster from my visions. Maybe a whole bunch of new information was just thrown at me and I still need to process this. Ugh, I need a cigarette.
"Anyone mind if I smoke?" I ask lifting up the pack, the fire dude looks at me shocked but no one says no. I offer around before lighting one and taking a puff. I move to the edge of the group so I can blow the smoke away from everyone, the buzz numbing my senses for a time. I finish my cigarette and stomp it into the ground.
"The subway lines?" I ask as we approach the terminal.
"We needed somewhere hidden," one of the monsters say.
"Smart," I shrug and shove my hands in my pockets as we make our way down the stairs to reveal a huge barrier followed by tents and other mini shelters. Weapons, food, water, shelter, these guys got a good set up. Monsters stare but did I really expect anything different?
"Where... are we going?" I ask, my gaze passes from monster to monster.
"The queen wishes to express her gratitude personally," a fish woman's says grabbing my arm and leading me away from the group. "You'll be taken to the lab after if your up for it," she says in a serious tone. I nod and we make our way to a large structure. We step inside and it's a throne room, the king and queen both on their respective thrones. The guard releases me and I approach and kneel.
"There is no need for that, please rise," I hear the queens soft voice. I smile softly stand, using my hand to delicately move my bangs from my eyes.
"How have you been? I trust omega got you back to your people safely," I ask.
"I am fine child," she assures me with a kind smile.
"But, why did you do this?" The king stands up. I look away, trying to find the right words.
"I woke up on a medical table a few weeks ago, I have no full memories from before only glimpses. Something felt off about the whole operation, so I did some research, I found out that it was the humans that actually started war. Humans started this war, monsters will win it," I say looking back at them.
"And why should we win?"
"Because unlike humans, you choose peace, humans rage wars on themselves, over resources, land, equal rights. We are destroying this planet..." I look away. "We don't deserve to win."
