First off, I want to say sorry if I switch to third person during this because I'm so used to writing in third person with Kyle, that's its harder. As you can tell though it is in Kyle's point of view in first person. I will tell you all that I can't update as fast as I did for Life As I Knew It, because I'm getting busier, so bear with me. This first chapter's dedication goes to @xMissMysteryx because she made the amazing cover for me so thank you. I hope you like this first chapter and please comment and let me know how it was. I really would love the comments and votes. If you have any questions or want to talk, just message me, I won't bite. I will update as soon as I can, but I'm going to try and make the chapters a little longer from now on if I can. So enjoy and I can't wait to read what you thought about the first chapter of book 4!!!! :)
It was one of the worst days ever since the love of my life, Kelly, died. It was a cloudy, dreary day. I stood on the edge of the woods, hiding behind a large oak tree. It looked like it was going to rain later one. Across the park, there was a beautiful service happening. Flowers' scents filled the park and the sound of sobs echoed throughout the air. There was a brown casket lying in front of everyone and inside was Kelly Hunter.
I had made sure to find out the date of the funeral because why would I miss it? Kelly was the light in my life, the one who kept me going. She was the love of my life and I knew I would never find anyone else like her. Tears filled my eyes but I refused to cry, instead, I stared intensely at Landon, who was with Robbins, crying before Kelly's corpse. They knew nothing about pain and loss, like I did. I had lost everything except for the will to get revenge, which I planned on getting.
The preacher talked too softly for me to hear but not hearing was best. I didn't want to get emotional or anything. It was bad enough that I cried when Kelly died, despite hating to cry, I needed to be strong again and not a wimpy baby. Then Landon looked over in my direction. I quickly hid behind the tree, hoping he didn't see me. If he had seen me, then I would get catch for a mistake of going to Kelly's funeral. He had debated going, even though he wanted too. Robbins was there, along with half the Florida police department.
Within an hour, everyone was cleared from the park and I knew it was my time to leave. A few tears ran down my face as I thought about Kelly's innocent, beautiful face. My car was parked in the woods, a few feet away and I quickly climbed into it. I hated myself for Kelly dying but now there was nothing I could do about it.
There was a house I had in Florida, which was where I was staying currently. It was secluded as usual and wasn't too close to Robbins but wasn't too far either. I planned on keeping track of her as my new plan came into progress. The plan of revenge. Oh what a great thing, right? I started my car and drove away from the park, remembering the best of Kelly. One on my fondest memories of her was a year after we had met. She was fourteen at the time and we were at a police get together.
It was a hot day in July; the Colorado air was filled with humidity. I was at a police get together and knew that Kelly was the only reason why I went. Who would want to be outside in one hundred degree weather at a crummy park? The sweet smell of barbeque filled the air. At least I was getting a good meal out of this.
I saw Matt across the park and knew Kelly had to be around. I started to walk over to Matt when I saw Kelly, sitting on a park bench behind him. When she saw me, her eyes lit up and a smile appeared on her face. She got up from the bench and ran over to me, hugging me tightly.
"Thank God you're here. I thought I might die of boredom soon." She laughed. God, I loved the sweet sound of her laugh, it was beautiful, just like her.
"We wouldn't want you to die now, would we?" I asked, grinning.
"Do you see what my mom made me wear to this stupid thing?" She asked, gesturing to herself.
