Marley Lynn

We stood in front of the door, hand in hand, watching the giant apartment building in front of us. It was huge, at least sixty stories high with two apartments on every floor, each with an on looking balcony towards the street we were standing on.

“This is our home now, Ryder,” I murmured, looking over at my husband who was gazing up at the giant building like I was. He looked so adorable and so cute that I just had to lean over and press a soft kiss to his cheek.

He nodded and looked at me, scanning his brown eyes over my face. That small, half smile graced his lips and he leaned down for a kiss. “This is our first time living together Mrs Marley Lynn, so let’s make the most of it.”

I was so excited. Ryder and I were finally in New York! We were finally married, and finally ready to start our lives off together and live in the same house and just be married forever. We weren’t ready for children yet, but I knew we would have children one day.

We had come here to New York after spending our entire summer in Lima, besides being on our honeymoon where Ryder’s parents had paid for us to go back to Miami. It was beautiful and the happiest two weeks of my life, until we were gate crashed by Ryder’s friends that had wanted to see him again.

Besides that, I was so glad to just be married to Ryder once and for all. I was happy again and ready to live in New York with the best husband ever.

I was so glad we had gotten married as soon as we had graduated because I didn’t want to spend another minute of my life not being with him and only him.

Although I was so excited to be in New York, I was also worried about what was going on back home. Angie was all alone now. She didn’t have Jake because he was in Chicago, and she didn’t have me or Ryder. All she had was Travis and Melissa – and I hoped Melissa was going to be a good friend to her.

“Are we going to go inside or will we spend forever out here just staring at the building?” Ryder interrupted my thoughts.

“Yeah, let’s go inside.” I beamed.

I gave Ryder’s hand another squeeze as we both grabbed our bags of luggage (the other things had already been brought to our apartment yesterday) and stepped through into the lobby. It smelt fresh, but it didn’t smell like I had kind of wanted it to smell. I wanted it to smell like my house in Lima, and I just hoped that that was exactly what mine and Ryder’s apartment smelt like when we got up there.

“Race you to the elevator.” Ryder whispered to me, kissing my cheek and running forward a meter and going to one of the two metal doors in front of him.

He pressed the up button several times before I rushed toward him and placed my hand on his t-shirt shoulder.

“How about I race you up there? We each get in an elevator and we’ll see who makes it to floor 43 first, okay?” I smiled.

Ryder nodded. “Deal, Marley Lynn.”

My heart still fluttered every time he said my full name, because it was a reminder that we both loved each other more than anything in the whole entire world.

I grinned at him and pressed the up button again, and my elevator opened quickly. I put my foot in front of the door to stop it from moving and waited for Ryder’s door to open. His opened a few seconds later and we both stared at each other.

“One… two… three… go!” We both screamed at each other, running into the elevator, pulling our luggage after us. I frantically clicked the close door button and hit the number 43 on the wall, and waited as the elevator slowly rose.
