Prologue
The dark form continued to wonder aimlessly as the horizon darkened over head, the night starts slightly shining in the pitch black sky. If he moved any closer he would be directly in the sunsets glimmer and he knew that would not be good. He continued to walk while staying close to the shadows, though he felt as if a shadow was always covering him, no matter if he was in the warmest place in the entire world; he was always cold and in darkness.
He reached a part of the bay where a large dock blocked out any light. He rested his back against a pillar staring into what he thought would be nothing, that was until he saw a brilliant red figure standing near the bay.
There stood a girl at the edge of the waterfront with gleaming long red hair and skin as fair as his. She must be an angel, he thought, for she is glowing like the heavens. He watched as she let the evening tide flooded toward her, soaking the hem of her white dress. She giggled delightfully as the chilly water touched her bare ankles and legs. That simple sound seemed to make his chest swell with warmth. She was pure innocence; everything this dark stranger didn't have any more, all his innocence had been lost long ago.
He watched as she danced about, splashing the water with her toes while her wild red hair bounced around her face. Her face... He couldn't see her face and it pained him. He needed to see her face! Suddenly he heard someone call out; he looked around to see where this person came from only to find a middle-aged man make his way toward the girl with red hair. He called out to her again, "Mae, you shouldn't be out here without a jacket and shoes. You'll catch you're death." The man said as he lifted Mae up after wrapping a blanket around her slim shoulders.
She gave him a gleaming smile before saying, "Da, I'm not so little anymore, I'm twelve and a half." Mae's father threw back his head and let out a booming laugh, thrilled with his daughters urge not to be looked upon as a child. "Oh didn't you know though Mae, you shall always be my little one. No matter how much you grow." He squeezed his daughter to his chest hugging her tight, while smiling. It was true; Mae would always be his little one even when she'd grow up, get married and have her own little ones.
The dark form watched as father and daughter walked away, leaving him alone in his dark world again. He knew right then and there that one day, he would find that red-haired fair-skinned girl named Mae, and then make, her his...Forever.
