Thanks to the wonderful Chicken_Hoe for this idea.❤❤❤
In the chapter 'Last interview', the author talked about how awful Brian's "first" LP is, so it might be a good idea to talk about it.
First some backstory of the LP, because after all this is a fact book and it has "educational" purposes (or at least it is a place for me to talk about Brian Jones, without having somebody tell me to shut the fuck up, I suppose I can get a bit passionate sometimes 😅).
About the Album:
The album is a recording of the Moroccan group the Master Musicians of Joujouka. It was recorded on the 29 July 1968 in the village of Jajouka in Morocco and was released in 1971. Brian Jones called the tracks "a specially chosen representation" of music played in the village during the annual week-long Rites of Pan Festival.
About the Recording:
Brian Jones, his then girlfriend Suki Potier and two recording engineers travelled to the village in 1968 to record the musicians using a portable recorder. Jones worked on the two-track recordings in London, adding stereo phasing, echo, and other effects. He edited the full-band selection to 14 minutes by "cross-phasing fragments of a work that runs to some ninety minutes in uncut form." (Thanks Wikipedia👍)
If sb wondered about the spelling, there are a few ways to spell Jajouka/Joujouka.
I think that's everything one need to know or not... Well the whole thing was reissued in 1995 and can be found on YouTube, it's 40 minutes long and well traditional Moroccan music.
Okay now without any further ado, I'll present you "Brian Jones presents the pipes of Pan at Jajouka":
If somebody fell in love with the music, you can of course always look for the record or the CD as well, but that might get expensive....

That's of course a new CD, you can find some cheaper second hand ones online as well or simply download the Album on Itunes or wherever or stream it. (I'm sure there's some illegal way as well to get it, but I'm not encouraging my readers to act in such a way. No, for once not.) Well if you don't want to pay money nor download it illegally and want to own it, I suppose you could message me and I could send it via e-mail to you as well. I know it's such a huge surprise, but I own the CD. It's on my "how to annoy my flatmate" playlist.😅
I admit it might not be the best LP ever, but it's a nice listen once or twice a year.
