Okay first let's start this with some very basic facts.

"Brian was the inventor and inspiration of the Rolling Stones. The band would not have existed without him. He never received that proper credit during his life..." - Bill Wyman, Stone Alone, 1990
Brian Jones was born on the 28th February 1942 and died on the 3rd July 1969. He was a guitarist/ multi instrumentalist for the Rolling Stones, but not only that he founded the band as well:
"Hugely important at the beginning, because he formed the band. He chose the members. He named the band. He chose the music we played. He got us gigs ... did marvelous things on a lot of songs in the mid-'60s with dulcimers, marimbas - anything he put his hands on he could get a tune out of and turned songs around into something they weren't when they started. Very influential, very important, and then slowly lost it - highly intelligent - and just kind of wasted it and blew it all away. Like John Lennon said, ''He ran out of runway.'' "-Bill Wyman, Roll of a Lifetime Founding Bassist Bill Wyman looks back at the Stones, Daily News (Los Angeles, Ca), Oct 27 2002
Nowadays, he's mostly known for his tragic death, his drug addiction and for being a member of the infamous 27 club.
But, there's a lot more than can be said about him and I hope this book can proof that.
I hope the quality is not too shit, (if it is, pls tell me and I write it out):
This appeared in the 'New Music Express' (NME, a British weekly music magazine) on the 27th November 1964 and gives you a bit of an inside view on the Stones. (even if not everything is 100% accurate.)
