Kuroko no Zombie Apocalypse

Day 4 - Part 2

Kagami POV

       I opened the door for Mayuzumi and everyone else when we got to the gym. "Is Akashi awake?"
       "No he hasn't woken. We might have to carry him back," Kise walked up to us. "I'm guessing you found Kurokocchi?"
       "Yeah but he's out too. We have to carry 3 people this isn't good," I responded.
       "I'm glad I called your coach. Before we left he told me that if something were to happen to contact him immediatly so I did. He set Midorimacchi and Kurokocchi's mom. They should be here in about 30 minutes to an hour," he said. "We have everything packed up. We are just going to wait on them."
       "I'd say we should start moving now and meet up with them. It will make things easier on everyone plus that one guy who nabbed Tetsu might still be around. We can't risk anything," Aomine butted into the conversation. "With Tetsu getting kidnapped as well as he and Akashi being immobilized it's not good. Staying is more risky that heading out."
       "I agree with him. They may have fled but those zombies that will hang us are still around. I know they are, they are good at hiding thats why their attacks are so hard to dodge. They got two of us already we don't need anymore people immobilized," Kasamatsu said.
       "Kasamatsu-senpai what do you mean they got two of us," Kise stared.
       "Look for yourself. Kuroko and Akashi were both nearly strangled to death. It's best to stay outdoors when it comes to those guys. Its hard for them to hide near you and its tough for them to make quick plans to attack due to there not being many places to tie the rope to," he responded.
       "Kurokocchi was hung too," Kise whined while Mayuzumi looked down.
       "Kise be careful with your words please. Mayuzumi-san was hit hard by this happening. It's not good to bring up the topic to much," I said.
       "Ah gomen," Kise looked at him. "Before we leave we should eat something."
       "Boy what did you say happened to my son," a voice panting behind me said. I looked and jumped.
       "You got here faster than expected did you run the whole time," I asked.
       "Yes now repeat what you said about my son," she pushed me out of the way and approached Kise and Kasamatsu. Mayuzumi approached her and handed Kuroko to her. Her eyes widened as she grabbed him. "Oh you poor boy." She sat down in a near by chair. "Please tell me how this happened." She rubbed her hand gently over the bruise caused by the noose. I nodded and told her what happened, she looked at Mayuzumi. "I'm glad that when I'm not around there is someone keeping a close eye on him." She gave a small smile and held Kuroko close.
       "Kise give her some water," I walked over to Midorima who was tired from running as well.
       "Give me a moment and I'll be fine. That's the fastest I've ran ever. Hyuuga wasn't planning on sending us cause we were busy but she over heard the conversation and asked if she could come. The second he said yes she grabbed my wrist and the medical equipment and just ran for the hills," he wheezed.
       "I can tell it took you guys about 10 minutes to get here. It's scary how she acts if Kurokocchi is in danger but its also easy to tell that she really cares about him and doesn't wish to see him hurt," Kise looked over at her. She had been caressing Kuroko's wound gently but the look on her face was hoping it was just dirt and it would just go away even if she just gently rubbed it. She moved some hair from his face and went back to caressing. She accidently pressed to hard receiving a groan from him. She loosened her grip then began rocking with him back and forth a little bit. He woke after a few minutes and stared for a couple seconds before hugging her and crying silently into her shoulder. Akashi had woken up about the same time and stared. "Akashicchi, Midorimacchi would like to look at your wound after he's done with Nakamura-senpai." He nodded then stood, slightly wobbling he walked over to Kuroko and rubbed his back a little.
       "He fell asleep again," his mom said. "This isn't the first time this happened. Depending on how close he was to dying he'll be in and out like this for a while." She caressed his head while our eyes widened.
       "This has happened before," we asked receiving a small nod.
       "We have all the weapons not because we are prepared for this but because we are prepared for an attack on our family. Our family and some other families to get along very well. When Tetsuya was younger and defenseless they would try to attack him to make sure we didn't have a successor or someone to carry out our blood. I guess I should mention we're not exactly human ourselves," she ruffled Mayuzumi's hair a bit. "But neither are most of you."
       "Eh," we said then looked at each other. "When we get back to base can you please explain more." She nodded and smiled.
       "Of course. Let's get out of here soon please," she looked at Midorima.
       "Let me finish with Nakamura and I will pack up. Akashi I'll check your wounds when we get back," Midorima stared at Akashi for a moment before finishing up on Nakamura. "I'm finished."
       "Let's go," I responded with a nod.
       "Here," Sophia said. "You can carry him if you want." She smiled at Mayuzumi.
       "My job is to protect him not to carry him," he smiled back. "I'll just be there to keep the zombies from attacking you guys plus I'm slow usually so it would be bad if you were waiting on me because I'm holding him."
       "Hai hai," she sighed then kissed his forehead. "Thank you for being so protective of my son. I'll make it up to you later." She opened the door to go outside and took a quick look. "We're good."
       "Hai," we responded. Kuroko grumbled and woke for a couple seconds again.
       "Mama its cold," he said childishly as he nuzzled sleepily into her for warmth.
       "Midorima-kun you have that blanket right," Sophia asked. Midorima nodded and handed it to her. "There you go." She smiled and wrapped Kuroko in it. He slowly fell asleep again.
       "Maybe we should hurry. He looks paler than usual," I commented, Sophia put her hand on his forehead.
       "He's freezing," her eyes widened.
       "I have more blankets somewhere in here. We slept here once cause Nakamura and Hayakawa wanted to look for ghosts. We left them here in case we decided to do it again one day," Kasamatsu said. "I forgot about them last night."
       "I can understand why you would forget. You were trapped in the building and then suddenly running around a lot. Anyway lets get the blankets and then walk back. They will be good for us to have to begin with it is still winter," Aomine added then looked for the blankets with everyone.
       "Found them," Kise said. "I was the one who put them away so I just had to remember where they were."
       "Oh yeah he lost the bet that night," Kasamatsu chuckled. "We were trying to figure out who would end up screaming first. Everyone voted that the loser and the first to scream have to put the blankets away and Kise was both the loser and the first to scream." We all gave a little snicker at Kise as he handed the blankets to Sophia. She wrapped Kuroko up.
       "Hopefully that will help. Let's go before it gets dark. If he's freezing it wont be good at night cause he might just freeze over," she gave a small whine and held him closer. We walked back to the school where Hyuuga was standing outside with Kiyoshi and Riko.
       "You guys are back. What happened," Hyuuga asked.
       "Lets get inside and we'll explain then," I gave a small smile. Akashi who was slightly slower than everyone else wobbled still, not realizing that he had a wound he had on his leg.
       "Your injured," Riko said examining him. "It might just be a small fracture it should heal if you wrap it."
       "I didn't even notice. It may have happened when I kicked at the zombie that tried to hang me. I missed and kicked the wall beside me but after that I blacked out," he responded Riko nodded and helped him inside.
        "Is something wrong with Kuroko. Why is he all wrapped up," Kiyoshi asked.
        "He was freezing. Like he was on a mountain freezing. I have no explanation for why though," Sophia said. "He warmed up a little on the way here but not much. I'll wake him and give him something warm to drink."
       "You mentioned before that you guys aren't exactly human. What did you mean by that," Midorima asked.
       "We aren't. Our bloodline has a lot of different things in it. Vampires, werewolves, sirens, and lots of other mythological creatures. You guys are the same you think your human but somewhere in your bloodline there was a mythological creature. The people who are more athletic than most tend to be this way and just happened to of gained the traits of whatever is in their blood. Like for Akashi-kun's speed he may have werewolf or vampiric blood or even that of a siren those things are fast. I played a game with Alex when I was younger to see who could catch a siren first and whoever lost had to do the others chores," she smiled as she explained. "These zombies may have been caused by someone figuring out they were one of these creatures or they bit someone who was human and they turned to a ghoul. Ghouls when they bite someone they either die, turn into a ghoul themselves or become undead. Ghouls used to make armies of zombies in the past but this has to of been an accidental spread cause its not very controlled either that or the zombies ate their master cause as you can see they attack everyone."
       "Would the zombies traits be based on blood as well," I asked.
       "Yes it would. The ones with speed but don't pop up in the daylight may have been vampiric or sirens. Sirens don't come out of the water often and live in the depths of the ocean. The light scares them and vampires prefer to hunt at night. The power of the ghouls causes the human blood to die and will make their inhuman powers to awaken but it also kills some other vital cells. If these vital cells aren't killed then they become ghouls and of course if all their cells die then they die. The zombies that die on their own after a while are ones who were strong enough to combine with the ghoulish cells that were thrown into their bodies. Most likely meaning they were more human than creature but there are still pure humans that can be turned but we will talk about them later. They are the most dangerous of the zombie types. I'd rather you meet one that have me tell you about them no matter how dangerous they are they are also the coolest of the zombie types," she continued.
