With whatever courage he had left, Henry closed his eyes and slowly turns around in hope that whatever horror in front of him will simply go away.
"Am..am I going to die? Oh God..not like this.." Henry was almost in tears.
With his eyes closed, he can still sense that the candle was at its final flicker and the foot steps were getting closer. Probably just a few more steps and that will be all. His tears started to flow. He slowly opened his teary eyes and saw the room going completely pitch black. The footsteps stopped. It was dead silent in the house. He can no longer see the silhouettes of the kids.
"Am I dead..is..is this a dream?" Henry was half-praying while thinking of this.
"What's the matter, Henry? I thought you like dark, abandoned and isolated places? Or would you prefer..some company? [Laughing]" said a voice. He knew who was saying it but it certainly sounded nothing like her at the moment. From out of the dark, 5 pair of red dots appeared out of nowhere.
"What? What the hell are you guys?" said Henry with his back against the door.
It took him awhile to realize that those weren't red dots. They were eyes. Red eyes. Red eyes of the kids that was supposedly still standing in front of him.
"Come here, Henry! We love to have you for dinner! [Laughing]" Every single one of those red eyes marched towards him.
Henry reaches for the door knob and frantically tried to open it. It was locked.
"Help me! Please! I don't wanna die! Please! Please! Open this door! Please!" screamed Henry.
The footsteps were getting closer and the chanting started again.
"We wait..we wait..we wait..we wait.."
It felt like an eternity for Henry as he twisted and turned the doorknob, trying to free himself from this hell on earth. He can feel them getting closer, their voices were getting louder and the air around him felt colder. He was almost drained of energy from his attempt to escape when suddenly, everything went silent again. Henry stopped turning the doorknob. He knew that they were standing right behind him. He felt a tap on his shoulder. It was cold as ice.
"Henry.." whispered a voice.
What happened next was a bit blurry for Henry. All he remembered was lunging forward with all his might, using his right shoulder to hit the door as hard as he can before finding himself stumbling to the ground after falling from the staircase in front of the old house. He was lying on the dirt, face first, right where they stood before, what felt like hours ago. He quickly recovers himself and was about to make a run for it when suddenly...
"Hey, Henry..where are you going? Are you going to run away from the werewolves? Come back inside..mother will be home soon..We wait for her. We wait.."
Against his better judgment, Henry turns around. He wished he hadn't. Shirley was standing with the boys somewhere near the house. Only this time, they looked more like zombies than human beings. Their clothes were old, tattered and torn and there were green and red smudges all over their pale greenish skeletal faces and bodies. And their eyes, their blood red eyes. Every single one of them was looking at him. Henry wasn't going to wait around anymore. With that final look of horror, he turns around and made a run for it. As he sprinted for his life, the strange illuminations that was along the path, slowly began to fade, one by one, leaving nothing but complete darkness behind him.
"Are they still chasing me? Keep running, Henry! For the love of God! Keep running!" thought Henry as he was dashing out of the dark woods.
The path he was running on was slowly disappearing and even the trees around him felt like they were blocking him, making it harder to maintain a straight line while running. Finally, there was light at a distance. It was the mansion.
"Thank God! Thank the Good Lord! Finally!" Henry began to feel a bit relieved as he was quickening his pace towards safety. He had to brush aside leaves and branches and even plowing through thick bushes with thorns and such that was never there before. The clear illuminated path have simply became non-existent. It all seemed like it will be over soon, but not before he heard a dim but ghastly sound. It sounded like something was running behind him, running after him.
"Don't look back..Don't look back..Don't look.."
The mansion was getting closer in his view and it felt like all he had to do was take a few giant leaps and he'll be out of there for good. That was when he heard the sound.
[Growling sound]
Just like most people who didn't take their own advice, Henry turns his head again. At a distant, he saw shadows that were moving ever so closer to him. One might guess that they could be a pack of wild dogs, but then again, not only were the dark figures bigger than the average dog, it almost seemed like they were running on two feet. Henry didn't have to guess how many of those things that were chasing after him because not only did he see their figures, he saw their eyes as well. Their blood red eyes. The same bloodshot eyes that he had seen earlier. He looked straight ahead. The edge of the forest was in full view.
"Just..just a bit more..I have to.." Henry was almost out of breath as he hurls himself through the air before finally landing on the hard ground.
[Wincing sound]
Henry was crying in pain. Not knowing whether he had made the right decision to leap out of the forest, he injured his ankle upon landing. He tried to recover himself as quickly as possible but it was too late. As he struggled to stand up, he was forced again to look into the eyes of evil. The 5 monstrous dark figures seemed to have stopped as well with their eyes glowing ever so red in the darkness. As he was catching his breath, he can practically hear the sounds from their nostrils as their demonic eyes peered into his soul.
[Growling sound]
"No..No..NO!!!"
[Screaming sound]
That was the last sound that he heard before all of the dark abominations leap into the air with their long hind legs and landing on top of him. They bare their long sharp claws before finally sinking their fangs into his throat, tearing him from limb to limb as he witnessed his own blood gushing out from his body, unable to scream or run anymore. Moments later, it was silent again.
