(Lexi's POV)
Police: that's it you are out of chances Alexis!
Ok pause did this old man just call me Alexis? I've been in juvie enough times for every police officer to know I go by Lexi. Nothing else!
Lexi: (whispers) it's Lexi
Mary: (walks in out of breath) I'm sorry I'm late, I was stuck in traffic
Police: hi, I'm officer Houston. And this is Alexis (Lexi gives him the death stare) Lexi's last strike, she's going back to juvie
Mary: wait what? She just got out a month ago
Officer Houston: yea, and now she's going back. Mary did you know where Lexi was this morning?
Mary: umm.. No sir, I had work and--
Officer Houston: and who was watching the kids?
Mary: (looks at Lexi) I thought I could trust them for one day
Officer Houston: well you can't. Lexi was caught beating up another girl. The girl is hospitalized now
Ok, ok, I know what your thinking "this bitch crazy" and your not wrong but the officer only saw the end of the fight. This is the full story...
(Flashback)
Mary: Michael, Lexi, Liam, and Brianna? I'm leaving for work, please stay out of trouble. I'm only going to be gone for a couple of hours (walks towards the door)
Liam: bye Ma
Mary: (kisses his forehead) bye Liam (walks out)
Brianna: ma? When you start calling her that?
Liam: when she agreed to adopt us, it's the nice thing to do
Brianna: yea right, that's a bunch of bull shit! She forbids us from seeing our real mom Liam, did you forget that?
Liam: no, but our mom is on crack! Why the fuck would you wanna see her? (Lexi peeks her head out and they both see her)
Brianna: come on out nosey
Liam: for a 12 year old you sure are sneaky (tackles her on the couch and tickles her)
Lexi: ok, stop! Stop! (Laughing hard)
Michael: so what's on the agenda? Mary's gone, we got a free crib
Liam: and we're not inviting anymore of your friends here so yall can just get high
Michael: bruh, I haven't smoked in 2 weeks
Brianna: yea, keep it that way. Your on your last strike with your parole officer (Lexi chuckles) you are too missy!
Lexi: yea, yea (walks to the door) well I'm out
Liam: where you going?
Lexi: store, want anything?
Michael: for you not to lose your last strike (laughs)
Lexi: (whispers) bitch! (Walks out the door and walks to the local grocery store)
I was suppose to be just getting a snack then going straight home. Actually I wasn't suppose to leave the house at all. One slip up and I'm out of the Foster home and back in juvie. Well I go in the store and buy my snacks, I walk out and see a white lady and her child getting jumped by an African American girl. I race over and pounce on the girl. I knock her to the ground and get up.
White lady: thank you so much (takes her daughters hand and runs off)
Black girl: wrong move guh
Lexi: what's your problem?
Black girl: you (punches Lexi)
Lexi: bitch! (Tackles the girl and punches her repeatedly in the face. Before she could get up she was lifted up by an officer)
(End of Flashback)
I know your probably like "why don't you tell them the full story" well I'm a little girl in the system and I've been to juvie 3 times. They won't believe me! So I'll just take my punishment.
Officer: juvie..
Mary: no! She's a sweet kid I sware
Officer: but she's out of control
Mary: a new Foster home
Lexi: what?
Mary: send her to a new home, a new environment
Officer: and if that doesn't work?
Mary: then she's back in juvie
Lexi: Mary, You can't leave me!
Mary: come on Lexi! (they go home)
Lexi: (screaming) how could you send me away?
Mary: they were gonna send you back to juvie, what did you want me to do? (Lexi cries) I'm doing this for you baby
Lexi: I know
Mary: so promise me you'll change for your new Foster family, and stay out of trouble
Lexi: I promise (hugs Mary)
