We got to my apartment around 11:45, and sure enough Lissa was waiting outside. We pulled up to the curb and she hopped in the back seat.
“Well it took you two long enough.” She says a little ticked off, but then she takes notice of 3 things, Shawn and I holding hands, the basket between us and our wet hair, the questions start to pile up after that but only one is constantly asked.
“So what were you two doing? And where did you go?” She asks breathing down my neck, flipping my hair around. I turn and look at her, she grins at me and winks before sitting back against the seat, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Now you could spill it, or…I could start taking guesses.” The mischievous grin on her face was enough to get me to spill most of what happened, because something told me the guesses that she had would make me extremely uncomfortable. Her grin only gets bigger when I mention the picnic and she lets out a giggle, Shawn shoots me a look out of the corner of his eye, his face flushing a little red hinting to me that he hadn’t wanted me to tell her but, hey it wasn’t that bad at least I didn’t think so.
I could see the thinking face Lissa had and I was scared of what was going to come next, but thanks to Shawn’s driving we didn’t have to. We pulled up to his house just as Lissa opened her mouth to reply.
“We’re here.” He says cutting her off, she looks out the window sees Mason and squeals excitedly. Before I could say anything else she’s out the door and jumping into Mason’s surprised, but more than happy arms. I go to open the door but Shawn’s grip tightens on my arm and stops me.
“What now?” I say looking at him and he gives me a strange look, letting go of my arm.
“If I do anything like that, please don’t tell anyone, especially Lissa.
“You know I have an image to obtain.” He winks and pops his collar up, causing me to laugh.
“Alright, alright mister tough guy.” I say and he grabs my chin between his thumb and forefinger.
“Thank you.” The words were almost inaudible but the kiss was so tender I thought I might melt into a puddle on the seat.
But of course it gets interrupted by Lissa, she taps on the passenger side window scaring both of us, but unlike Shawn I make it obvious as my face turns dark red and I fumble with my seat belt. Before my seat belt’s even undone Shawn’s out of the car with my door open, the seat belt finally clicks and he grabs my hand pulling me to my wobbly knees. We start to walk but Lissa grabs my arm and pulls me back letting the guys act like children and race to the car.
“So what really happened?” She whispers linking her arm through mine, grinning from ear to ear, waggling her eyebrows.
When I had first met Lissa I hadn’t expected her to be such a, well, girly girl, or into girly gossip like this but looks can be deceiving I should be the one who knows that the best.
“Uhh…umm…nothing?” My stuttering shows her I’m lying through my teeth as well as my pink cheeks.
“Come oooon.” She pleads
“I’m dying here.”
“Who’s dying where now?” Mason asks interrupting us as he wraps his arms around Lissa’s waist making her drop my arm and giggle.
“No ones dying anywhere.” I say climbing into the back of Mason’s car next to Shawn. He nods and it’s obvious he doesn’t believe me but he was far to concerned with Lissa than with our girl talk.
I close my door and Shawn pulls me close to him, snapping his seat belt around both of us, kicking his feet up onto Mason’s arm rest just to grate on his nerves because after all it’s what he does best.
