Prologue: Welcome to Slugterra

Hello there. My name is Elixir Shane. I live in a place called Slugterra. Here in Slugterra, everything kind of revolves around Slugs. That may be because the Slugs provide the energy that sustains all life here. Besides giving us a beautiful place to live, the Slugs double as amo. Many Slugterrans sling Slugs. These inhabitants are called Slug slingers. I myself am one. Now, none of our races are known for being the best Slug slingers. As in, wether you are Molenoid, Cave Troll, Mutant, Human or Shadow Clan, your Slug slinging abilities depend on your knowledge and skills. The only races that don't sling Slugs are the Slugs themselves and the Dark Bane. The Dark Bane are a nasty, Satan-like group of freaks. They all have very sickly pale skin and live in the Deep Caverns. The only access they have to the surface is through a portal that is powered by guardian Slugs. Now lets go back to my family as they play an important part here in Slugterra. The Shane family has been traveling down to Slugterra for a very long time. Once down here, we do our best to keep the peace. The Shane is the peacekeeper at a certain time. There are never two Shane's keeping the peace at the same time. For the past fifteen years, I've been watching my dad protect Slugterra effortlessly. But now it's my time to step up and take his place. I'm the first female Shane who is not a Shane by marriage. I'm also the first known Shane to be born in Slugterra. Our greatest secret is the Surface, which is where my dad is from. The reason the Surface is a Shane secret is because if Slugterra and the Surface were to find out about the eachother, total chaos would ensue. Now the reason I am the current Shane is because my dad disappeared. The only thing he left behind was his Shadow Talker. And he never leaves that behind, never. So now I must become the Shane. On my own I will keep Slugterra safe.
