MAMA M LOOKED AT all of us, tears in her eyes. I felt guilty, leaving her alone in the house. I wanted to stay with her, having a feeling that we'd be safe, yet knowing we wouldn't be. The blacksuits would be on our tail quicker than we could say "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious." I sighed and pulled Margaret into a hug. I knew everybody could hear her muffled cries because Emelyn had tears in her eyes as well. For a Skull, she has alot of feelings.
Arabelle was holding Donovan's hand, Donovan wrapping his arm around her waist. Margaret sighed and let go of me as I walked back to Emelyn.
"Darlin's, I want y'all to be careful, ya hear?" She mumbled, wiping the tears from her eyes and smiling, "Thank you all for putting light into my house, even if it was for a short time. I- I do have one question, y'all. You're not walkin' to wherever ya goin, right?"
I heard Zee let out a quiet snort before Arabelle looked up. "Yes ma'am, we're walking."
Mama M put a hand over her heart before waving for us to follow her. She silently walked to the side of her house.
"Alex, Donovan, can I have some help?" She mumbled, trying her hardest to take the weather damaged quilt off of the object. With a nod, both Donovan and I quickly took the sheet off. I grinned like a madman; or a shark.
IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. A 1967 Black Chevrolet Impala. I turned to look back at Arabelle, Zee, Simon and Emelyn, my shark's grin growing wider. Arabelle raised an eyebrow.
"Care to tell us why you're grinning like a monkey who just got a banana, Alex?" Letting out a slight chuckle, I spoke quietly, "Guys do you not watch SPN?"
Emelyn rolled her eyes and whispered a small "Nerd." before speaking her goodbyes to Margaret. I sighed happily and ran my hand along the - gorgeous - car.
After we finished our goodbyes to Mama M, she made her way to the doorway and looked at Donovan.
"Donnie, my boy, come he-uh. Lemme talk to ya, give ya some advice. Old lady to young man." Donovan looked at Arabelle and smiled softly before following Margaret into the house. A few minutes later he came back, and with no Mama M. I furrowed my eyebrows, crossing my arms.
"Donovan, did you-?" Donovan gave me a dirty look before shaking his head.
"No, I did not kill her, you senseless idjit." He raised an eyebrow, "She wanted me to help her lay down. She gives us her best wishes.. She didn't want to see us go. She's letting us use the impala, and she's given us about 1,000 dollars for the road. We have to use it carefully."
I nodded slowly, before looking towards the Impala. "So.. What are the arrangements for the car?"
"Two in the front, two in the back, two in the trunk. I'll be driving, so Arabelle's getting the front with me." I chuckled softly.
"I'll get in the b-" I was cut off by Simon and Zee.
"We'll get in the back, guys." They both spoke in unison. I looked back at the both of them, about to protest, but Zee held his hand up, stopping me from saying anything. After about five minutes, we were on the road, going through town. Arabelle and Donovan were in the front, Emelyn and I in the back, and Simon and Zee in the trunk.
AFTER THREE HOURS, we were driving along a beach road, random stores all around us, the smell of salt in the air. I smiled to myself, resting my hand against the window as I wrapped an arm around Emelyn's waist.
