Melody pov

My eyes grew wide as I couldn't comprehend what was lying on my hand, but a smile spread across my lips after a few seconds of looking at it.

Jack looked over my shoulder looking with me not understanding the small object.

"What is it?" Jack asked with his eyebrows knitted together in confusion.

I took the bean in my hand and stood up ignoring the pain." This I our salvation." I said with pride and happiness. Jack clung to my side to steady me, for I have lost all feeling in my right leg and shoulder.

"Ok Jackie, when I throw this on the ground brace yourself, protect your face, can you do that for me?" I looked at him with worry. He just shook his head vigorously saying yes.

After his confirmation I could see the water slowly raising, and I could hear the screeches of the mermaids in the distance. I had to act fast, throwing the bean in the hard stone ground of the cave, I grabbed Jack around the waist, who had already covered his eyes, and jumped with what strength I had in my left leg... Into the portal... To the enchanted forest.

Jack and Melody arrived in a very wooded area next to a dirt path that lead to a place unknown to them. Jack looked around after uncovering his eyes like Melody had told him.

"Where are we Melody? I've never seen this place befo-. Melody?!" Jack yelled as he turned around to see Melody's injury had gotten worse and she was now unconscious.

Jack shook her and yelled her name but to no avail, she did not stir, but her chest rose and fell very slowly and faintly. Black veins cascaded her right cheek and chin, Her lips were ghostly pale.

Jack didn't know what to until he heard the rolling of a cart and the clack of a horses hooves. He turned down the road to see a merchant and a black horse hauling a small cart.

"Help! Sir, please help her!" He cried to the merchant, waving his arms frantically.

The merchant luckily stopped with a nay of his horse. He took one look at Melody, and in fear, continued on faster.

"No no! Please help her!" The merchant didn't even say a word as the rumbling of his cart faded in the distance.

Jack was about to give up, running his fingers through his dirty unkempt hair. He squatted next to Melody looking at the spreading veins on her cheek.

Then he heard a sound. A laugh. It did not sound like a laugh of hardy joy, but a laugh of insanity. High pitched and mockingly.

Jack slowly turned his head unnerved and hesitant. Then he saw a man with skin like rock and clothes of brown crocodile skin. Jack moved over Melody in a protective stance.

The man wasn't fazed by his sudden action." Oh don't worry dearie I won't hurt her. In fact I want to help." He said taking a dramatic rep forward with his hand close to his face.

Jack was confused. How could he help her. He had no way of taking her anywhere, and he doesn't look like he can carry her.

"How?" Jack inquired.

"Well that's very simple." Waving his arms he continued."With magic." The man dramatically leaned forward.

"And in return?"

"And in return you give me, one of her tears." Again dramatically, he gestured to Melody.

Jack complied desperate to save her. With a swift movement of his hand, a crimson red smoke circled his hand, and when it cleared a small vial appeared in his outstretched hand. As fast as he could, snatched the small piece of glass from his hand and forced it into her mouth. Once she drank it, the black veins began to disappear, but she wouldn't wake. Jack's state of happiness faltered and he began to panic.

"What's wrong?... What's wrong it isn't working!" The man kneeled next to Jack gazing at Melody's unmoving body.

"I don't understand, this should have worked... Unless, it only half worked." He thought out loud.

"What do you mean?" Jack asked frantically.

"Well in a scientific sense, this potion was made for a human. The potion should have worked, unless she was only half human." He explained seeming more serious then when they originally met.

"Then if only half worked, what is happening?"

"Well it appears she has had the poison long enough to put he in the next stage of killing its victim. Putting them under a sleeping curse." Fear graced Jack's face as He looked at the pale pirate that saved his life.

"But that's not all dearie. The dream she has.... Is a nightmare." He said darkly, his eyes never leaving the sleeping creature.

"You said you would help her! Please she saved my life, there must be something you can do!" He shouted tearing up.

"I'll see what I can do... You can't get her tears without waking her up." In a circular motion the man raised his hand, and red mist swallowed them up blowing Jack's hair a little. Just as it came it was gone into thin air to reveal an old castle with seemingly new furniture and relics everywhere.

"Welcome to my humble abode." He said cheerily.

That was several years ago. In that time Jack and Rumpelstiltskin searched for a cure. They tried everything short of true love's kiss. Which they couldn't obtain because she could not tell them who she loved.

Other events arouse with the arrival of Belle, the second Ogre war, and the imprisonment of Rumpelstiltskin. All while Melody was asleep. He was put under a spell that kept her young while they searched for a solution.

The curse also occurred. Taking everyone including Melody and Jack. Jack spent his last moments in the enchanted forest by Melody's side. The last thing he saw was his beloved savior in a death like sleep. A stray tear falls down his cheek, then purple smoke engulfed his sight and his memories.
