The end was in sight. Dreemo sprinted as hard as he could, his eyes fixed on the stronghold. It was only half a mile away now.
Drake kept pace with his much younger nephew. He had been waiting for this fight for two years. He had been patiently but restlessly waiting for the moment when he would exact his vengeance on the vile soldier who had torn his family apart. Now, he could see the moment approaching.
"What's going on over there?" Glyphton asked as he watched two small figures head for the stronghold, flanked by as many gunships.
"Bloody icicle, that must be Drake and Dreemo!" Camo said excitedly. "C'mon, we've got to catch up with them!"
They still hadn't reached the main battle. "There's an army between us and them!" Glyphton argued.
"Then we'll break past it! Come on!"
As the two of them were running, a stream of gunfire suddenly assaulted them from their right, and they dove behind a pile of debris. They recognized Chimera ZE's voice as he shouted, "Show yourselves! You still haven't won this fight unless you can kill me!"
Glyphton could see the anxiety in Camo's eye; he had to get to his brother and nephew. Glyphton understood. "Go; I'll cover you," he told the old soldier.
Camo nodded gratefully and sprinted from cover as Glyphton came into plain sight and fired at Chimera with one flipper, holding a piece of a jet's wing as a shield with the other.
Chimera ZE stopped firing and cocked his head ominously as he recognized Glyphton. "I know you," he said menacingly.
"Yeah, you do," Glyphton replied, holding back his fear.
"You're the one who hacked half my face off," the Captain growled, his anger building.
"That's right. You want a challenger? Here I am. Fight me, and let's see if you can protect yourself from me this time."
Chimera ZE smiled broadly behind his mask.
"Blow it open!" Dreemo ordered. Ursynz and Larikos each launched a missile from their respective gunship at the stronghold. To their dismay, the invisible electromagnetic shield set them off long before they could damage the building.
"How are we going to get in?" Ursynz asked over the radio.
"We'll find a way," Drake replied firmly.
Suddenly, two anti-aircraft turrets rose out of the ground and opened fire on the two gunships. Terasane quickly rolled his aircraft out of the way of the gunfire, and then Larikos used up the last of the shots in his minigun taking out the first turret. The other relentlessly fired at Fragnile's gunship.
"Take it out, Ursynz!" Fragnile cried as he tried to evade the shots, but his right engine got hit and he struggled to keep the gunship in the air.
The turret began shredding into the gunship.
"Larikos, take it out now!" Terasane ordered.
"We're out!" Larikos replied.
"Then fire a missile!"
