Author's Notes-
Hey guys, so in case you have no idea what lucid dreaming is, its when you go to bed and dream but you can control them. Yes this is a real thing. You can do whatever you want in your dreams, and feel it too, Somewhat like a simulation. For example, you went to the amusement park. You can feel the wind blowing in your face and you can actually taste the cold ice cream.
To do this you have to realize you are dreaming. The definition of lucid dreaming is to be aware that you are dreaming. A few things you can do is to keep a "Dream Journal." By doing this it helps you remember your dreams and will help you increase the chances of lucid dreaming along with remembering them. There are many other ways like trying to consistently repeating what you want to dream about over in your head over and over again.
While you're dreaming, try to read something. Say it's a cereal box, try to read it. If it's in gibberish, you know you're dreaming.
However, there is a bad side to lucid dreaming. Say it turns into a nightmare, You can feel the guy stabbing you and actually feel the monster breathing down your back. However it's just a dream. Sometimes lucid dreaming can lead to sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is when you or your self conscience is awake but you are unable to move. While sleeping, the muscles are unable to move so that the person won't be able to act out dreams with their body. Sleep Paralysis happens when a person wakes up before REM is finished. If this happens DO NOT PANIC. It's okay. Start very slowly by trying to move a toe or finger. Then move up SLOWLY.
Another note- If Nightmares get too intense that you just have to get out. It sounds bad, but try and find a way to kill yourself, INSIDE THE DREAM. By doing this, your mind doesn't know or can't comprehend what happens after death and you will be able to wake up. The human brain doesn't know what's after death.
Schizophrenia is a disorder where you can't tell the difference between reality and dreams or imagination. For example people with this disorder tend to talk to things that aren't there and don't exist and often have "imaginary friends." Normally imaginary friends fade out at a young age, not for Gemma. Gemma is a 15 year old girl. Normally, seeing things that aren't there are part of your imagination but people with Schizophrenia have it differently. "The exact cause of schizophrenia isn't known, but a combination of genetics, environment, and altered brain chemistry and structure may play a role.
Schizophrenia is characterized by thoughts or experiences that seem out of touch with reality, disorganized speech or behavior, and decreased participation in daily activities. Difficulty with concentration and memory may also be present.Treatment is usually lifelong and often involves a combination of medications, psychotherapy, and coordinated specialty care services," says many researchers and scientists.
Okay, now that you know a little bit about lucid dreaming and schizophrenia, let's get into the story :)
