I shut my truck off and just stared silently at the building before me. I didn't want to get out and have to deal with the people inside.

I knew what awaited me. More endless torture, even from the humans. I don't think they would have even cared if they knew what I was. The fact of the matter is, I was too small to harm them even if I wanted to.

The bell rang, meaning I had 5 minutes to get to class. I sighed, grabbing my bag and getting out of the truck. Keeping my head low, I started to walk towards my first class, hoping I could escape everyone's watchful eye.

"Hey Caroline!" a voice yelled mockingly from the other end of the hallway.

And just like that my dreams were shattered. Everyone was now stopped and staring at me, evil smirks plastered on their faces. I just kept walking to my class, avoiding all eye contact.

As I walked by, someone stuck their leg out, tripping me. I fell ungracefully to the floor, my bag sliding away from me.

"Stupid bitch. Watch where you are going," some human sneered at me. It didn't matter that they didn't know me. It was a game the school plays. It was fun for them to see who could cause me the most pain.

I got up and went to collect my things when someone kicked my bag further down the hall. I sighed, walking after it. The minute bell rang and everyone finally disbursed from the walkway and went to class. I thanked the Moon Goddess and grabbed my backpack. Running to the nearest bathroom, I walked in and looked in the mirror.

The girl who stared back looked like a stranger to me. My once icy blue eyes were sunken into my face and held nothing but sadness. My once voluminous brown hair hung limply across my back. My bones looked like they were about to tear through my skin at any given moment. I couldn't remember the last time I actually ate a full meal.

I sighed in disgust with myself.

I lifted my over-sized t-shirt and looked at my hip where I had landed from the fall. Already there was a black and blue spot forming. It would soon blend in with the older yellow spots.

Hearing the door behind me open, I quickly dropped my shirt and looked up in the mirror. My stomach instantly turned to knots. It was Alexander. He was to be the next Alpha of our pack after he turned 21 and his father stepped down. Torturing me was his favorite past time, even though I had never done a thing to upset him.

"Well well well, what do we have here?" he said with a smirk as he stepped into the bathroom and shut the door behind him, locking it.

I turned around to face him as I took a step back. I didn't get very far because I bumped into the counter of the sink.

"Alex," I said in a shaky voice.

I knew what he wanted, the same thing he always wanted. I looked around for an escape, knowing very well that there wasn't one. And even if there was, Alpha Alex always gets what he wants.

"Come here, kitten. You know the drill," he said walking towards me, undoing his belt.

I tried to run around him, only for him to grab me by the hair and throw me to the floor.

"I thought you would have learned by now that you can't get away from me. You are mine," he growled down at me.

He pulled my pants down and straddled my hips, using his belt to tie my hands together. Tears were freely flowing down my face by this time, but it didn't seem to bother him. It seemed to turn him on more. I knew better than to scream. I tried that once and it resulted in me getting a black eye.

15 minutes later, he was finished and stood up with the smirk returning to his face. He looked in the mirror and straightened his clothes. Without so much as a glance in my direction, he left the room. I sat on the floor for another 20 or so minutes before I got up. Knowing I couldn't deal with the rest of the day, I ran out of the school and to my truck.

I drove home in record time and walked into the house. It was empty, as usual. My dad had left us a few years back, and my mom, taking it hard, now practically lived at the bar that was in town. I was okay with it though. When she came home, she made what the people at school did to me look child's play. She blamed me for my father leaving and made sure I knew it.

Just thinking about her made the scars from the belt on my back sting.

I walked up to my room and sat in my window chair with my dairy. After writing down the day's events, I flipped through the pages. There was two years worth of torture written down on those pages.

Then I remembered, today was my birthday. I was 18. I could finally leave. Being a wolf, you couldn't physically stand being away from your pack until you turned 18. The pain of not having a pack would be too great.

But I could finally have the freedom that I needed. Without so much as a second thought, I grabbed a small bag and put the necessities in it: toothbrush, comb, an extra change of clothes, what little money I had, and my diary. I would be traveling light, as I would be in my wolf form.

I didn't bother writing a note to my mom. She wouldn't notice that I was gone. Even if she did, she wouldn't care. She would be thankful she didn't have to "care" for me anymore. I took one last look around my room and then left the house. I jogged to the end of the pack's territory and went behind a tree to strip. After putting my clothes in my bag, I shifted into my wolf. I grabbed my bag in my mouth and set off running.

To make it official, I had to tell the Alpha, but I just decided to tell the whole pack.

"I, Caroline Sawyer, hereby leave the MoonShine Pack and become a rouge."
