I ran for days. Literal days. It had been forever since I had been in my wolf form and I felt released.

I was a rouge now. I never had to see any of those horrible people ever again.

Night had just fallen when I crossed into Montana. I didn't know where I was going. I just knew I was finally free. I slowed my pace as I neared a river. I had ran all day and decided here was a good enough place to stop. I curled up next to a tree that was on the river bank and soon fell asleep still in my wolf form.

Suddenly I was woke up when rough hands grabbed my from all sides. I let Karma, my wolf, take over and try to escape. It was no use. The hands were strong and rough. There was no way out. All I could do was lay there limp, hoping they wouldn't hurt me. Of course, I was wrong. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a fist coming towards my head. It struck me, hard, in the temple. Black spots flitted through my vision. I tried to stay conscious, but it was no use. The darkness took over as a set of hands picked me up, throwing me over their shoulder.

*****Exander's POV*****

"Alpha, there were rouges on our territory. We didn't get to them in time. All we found was this," my Beta, Greyson, said solemnly as he handed me a torn up bag.

I took it and sniffed it. There were about 7 different scents coming from it. One was definitely female. It smelt like she hadn't been rouge long. The others, without a doubt, were worriers sent from the Rouge Alpha, Caine.

He had been after me for ages. Being the strongest, most feared Alpha in the world, he wanted to kill me and take over my pack. Like that was ever going to happen. I also have the largest pack in the world. My territory spread out over 55 acres with just over 1600 wolves living on it. About 700 of those were trained worriers, and almost half of those were basically trained assassins.

I grimaced at the thought of his men being on my property. And the girl who this bag belonged to, who was she? Why was she on my land?

"Thank you, Grey. Let me know if you find anything else out." He nodded, and left.

Greyson and I grew up together. He was basically my brother, as well as my only friend. Most of my pack, while they respected me, were afraid of me. I didn't mind it too much. It made things easy for me. No useless chit chat, no needless pleasantries.

Looking back at the bag, I open it. There wasn't much in it. There were a few clothes, a toothbrush, some waded up dollar bills and a journal. The clothes didn't give me any idea of who the girl was, so I decided to take the journal out. Knowing it was an invasion of privacy, and not really caring, I flipped the book open to a random page in the middle.

November 24

He did it again today.  He trapped my in the bathroom and pushed me to the floor. His friend, Todd, was there with him this time too. I begged them not too, just like always. And just like always, this only made them want to do it more. They cornered me into the last stall and ripped my clothes off. Then they took turns. After about 45 minutes, they decided they had enough and left. I lay there crying for...

Turning to another random page, the entry was about the same, but this time there was added abuse, open abuse. The girl was basically beat up in the hallway, by humans. Why didn't she defend herself from them? She should have easily been able to fend them off. I flipped to the last page.

June 18

This is it. I can't take it anymore. Years of this. But no more. I will leave tonight. I have no idea where I will go. But I know Karma will be happy to be let out. Not being able to talk to her for years has killed us both. We know it was for the best. The wolfsbane was killing us. It was easier to keep her in the cage than let them inject us with any more of that poison.

What the hell? Wolfsbane was illegal and to have wolves use it on one of their own? That was unheard of. Not only was this girl beaten and raped, but she was also tortured. I gripped the book in my hands as I started to shake. Storm, my wolf, was trying to take over. I have no idea why this was getting to us so much. We don't care about others, especially those who we don't know.

We have to help her. Storm growled out at me.

Why? We don't even know her.

She didn't deserve what she went through and she definitely doesn't deserve what he is going to do to her.

He was right. Caine was going to make what had already happened to her look like child's play. That made us very angry for some reason. I couldn't put my finger on it. I just knew I had to help get her out of his grasp.

I need all the Shadows to meet me in the training field in 10 minutes.  I sent out to my pack. If anyone could get her back, it would be them.

They were my best fighters. They had been restlessly waiting for the time that I would say they could go after Caine. He had tormented their pack enough and they wanted him dead as much as I did.

Ten minutes later, roughly about 300 men were standing around me in the field.

"The time has come," I began, walking around to look at all my men. "Caine must die."

Growls of approval erupted from the chests of all of them.

"This isn't going to be simply a blood bath. This is first and foremost a rescue mission. Caine has taken an innocent girl captive. Our job is to bring her to safety. Kill who you must, but make sure she makes it out alive. Don't ask questions. If possible, bring Caine back here alive. We will leave the day after tomorrow. Prepare yourselves. We don't know what we are walking into."

They all bowed their heads in respect and then left. I didn't need to say any more. I knew they were well trained. They didn't need to prepare at all. I just wanted to give them more time with their mates and children. I may not have found my mate yet, and I may have a heartless reputation, but I did respect the mate's bond.

I stood there until they all had left. Greyson walked up and stood beside me.

"May I speak freely, Alpha? I mean no disrespect."

"Grey, you know you don't have to use those formalities with me."

He ignored what I said and turned to face me.

"What makes her so special? Why are you sending our best men to save the life of one girl? And a rouge at that."

I wish I knew the answer to that. To be honest, I had no idea. But I wasn't about to tell even Grey about that.

"Storm and I just have a feeling. We need to save her. Rouge or not, no one deserves to be at the hands of Caine. Besides, I'm not saying we keep her. We will bring her back here and then decide what to do with her. She just needs to be freed of him."

Sensing the conversation was over, he gave a curt nod and then headed into the pack house. I stood there for a while more.

What are we getting ourselves into, Storm? Are we sure this is the best idea?

No. But it's the only idea we have, he huffed out.

With that, I went inside to start planning out battle strategies.
