"I'm not mad at him, Soph." I said the next day at lunch. Gabe was trying to avoid me all day. "You know I tried talking to him in Chemistry. And it makes me sad to know it's my fault that he's sitting over there." I pointed to the corner of the cafeteria where he was sitting at an old beat up table by himself.
"I know, beats me why he's acting like a baby about all of this. It's not like a kiss is a bad thing."
I nodded. "I know." I said, looking over to him out eyes lokced and he quickly turned away. "I'll be right back Soph." I said rising up to go talk to him.
"Hey Avery." I was confronted by Paul. He's a freak who had been hitting on me all week.
I pushed him off of me. "Paul get away. I'm busy."
"I can make you more busy," He winked at me. "And it'll be fun. One date?"
"No. Now get off of me!" I tried pushing him away once more but this time he was too strong. The next thing I knew I was pushed against the wall. Cupping my cheek he leaned in and just before he touched his nasty lips to mine, he was pulled off of me. I looked around and all the kids in the cafeteria were yelling. The person who had pulled Paul off me now had him on the ground, throwing punches.
"Gabe!" I yelled. "Stop!"
Teachers were now running in and everyone was cleared out. Lunch returned to normal, but this time without Gabe and Paul. I walked over sitting beside Sophia. "There goes that." I said.
"Where the hell did that come from?" She asked me.
"Paul's a jerk, you know he's been asking me on dates and I don't know. He got a bit physical."
"Yeah, I'm talking about Gabe. That was crazy. But it was kind of cutely hot how he came to your rescue." She said giving me a wink.
"Shut up." I said, taking one of her fries and popping it into my mouth.
"Hey! That's mine!" She laughed. "Wait, you know what's gonna happen, right?"
"What?"
"One of them are gonna have to mention your name. You're gonna get called down there sometime."
"Damn. I didn't think of that."
"It's not like it your fault. You were a victim and Gabe was saving you. He's your hero!" She threw a hand over her heart, using the other to wipe an imaginary tear from her eye.
"You're such a drama queen. Eat your fries before I do."
I didn't know what it was about starting school here that all of a sudden made guys fight over me. Josh had asked me out on a date, Gabe kissed me, and then there's Paul and Gabe fighting. I'd only had one real boyfriend, and that ended over the summer before junior year. Guys had never really showed an interest in me. But I knew I had to decide between Josh and Gabe. I'd already pretty much made that desicion without really thinking about it. I guess, my heart did the deciding for me? I barely knew either one, Josh was sweet and cute, Gabe was mysterious and kind of pushy. The bell rang, pulling me from my thoughts and we headed to class.
"Av, I'll see you in woodshop." That was the class her Gabe and I shared together. The last class of the day.
"Yeah, see ya Soph."

"Hey, what happened to you?" Sophia said, reffering to me being gone in woodshop.
