I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. I rolled over and look at my digital clock on the table beside my bed. The glowing numbers told me it was 12:30. Well, didn't I sleep in late. 12:30 is actually very late for me. My phone rang again, reminding me why I woke up in the first place. It was Sophia.
"Hey." I said, trying to sound like I'd been awake for a while.
"Hey," She paused. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." I cleared my throat.
"Hmm, okay," She paused a second time and I was pretty sure she knew she'd woken me up. "I was thinking we should hang out. Go to the mall or something. My mom's driving me crazy and I kinda miss you and I'm actually really tired of hearing Josh talk about how well your date was last night." I thought for a minute, then realized that I had nothing planned.
"Okay, that actually sounds great. Give me like, thirty minutes?"
"Yeah, okay," She began. "Oh, and sorry I woke you up."
I laughed. "It's fine. I'll take a shower and all. Thirty minutes, tops for me to get ready."
"Okay. Josh will drop me off, then we can think of what to do from there."
Hearing Josh's name made the memories from last night flood my mind. Hearing his name made my heart flutter. "Okay, sounds great. I'l see you then."
"Okay, see ya!"
I was finishing up my makeup and hair when I heard a car honk outside. I texted Sophia saying I had to et my shoes on and I'd be out the door. Which was true. I just didn't add the part of finishing my mascara. I slid my shoes on after applying the mascara and headed downstairs and out the door.
"Hey!" She yelled out the car window. She motioned for me to come over. "He said he wasn't going to let us walk all the way to the mall by ourselves."
"I thought we hadn't decided yet."
“Wanna go to the mall?” She asked, giving me a toothy grin.
"The mall's fine."
"Okay, hop in."
I wasn't sure who's idea it was for Sophia to sit in the back and me sit up front beside Josh, but I wasn't going to ask. I opened the door and got in. Josh leaned over and pecked my cheek before I got my seat belt on. I heard Sophia giggle in the backseat.
"Hey Av." He said when my seat belt clicked.
"Hey."
"Well don't I feel like a third wheel," She began. "Maybe I should just let you two go." She laughed.
"So," I began. "How are you guys doing today?" I'm so lame.
"I can tell you how Josh is doing." Sophia laughed.
"This'll be good." I said.
"Yeah, how does Josh feel?" He asked.
"Well, I know what Josh's said at the house about how Avery makes him feel. He sa-"
"Oh, Avery doesn't want to hear about how Josh feels." He said, cutting her off.
I got out my phone and texted Sophia.
