“Hello?” I said, answering my phone.
“Hi Avery.”
“Josh, what's wrong? You don't sound so good.”
“I'm not.”
“So what's wrong?”
“I can't do this anymore.”
“Do – Do what?”
“I've met someone else.”
“Is this a joke?”
“No. I just don't want to string you along while I hang out with someone I like better than you.”
“What?” I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
“You and Sophia are still friends, but I just don't think you and I should date anymore.”
“I don't– Why–“
“She's coming over in a few minutes. I'm gonna make it official with her, so I decided to end it with you.”
Tears began forming in my eyes. “Okay.” That's all I could say. What am I supposed to say?
“Don't cry, come on.”
“Bye Josh.” I said, hanging up.
I just sat there on my couch and stared at the wall. I didn't know what to do. My phone began to ring again and I got excited, thinking that it was Josh calling to tell me it was all a joke.
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP
I woke up to my alarm going off. I quickly shot up, and the familiarity of my bedroom filled my eyes. Thank God it was just a dream, that would have been awful if it was real. I get up and enter my closet, deciding what to wear for the day. Just as I was about to hop in the shower, my phone went off.
