Chapter II

"Cinderella! Make sure you guard the house while we are at the ball." Lady Tremaine commanded her.

"Yes, stepmother" Cinderella sighed. She can not do anything but just listen to Lady Tremaine.

"Good. We will be home by 12 midnight" Lady Tremaine said.

"Goodbye Cinderella! Hope you have fun by yourself!" Anastasia and Drizella annoyingly told Cinderella laughing as Cinderella was about to close the front door.

Cinderella was really devastated that she could not go to the ball. She'll be locked inside the house for life. All her chores were done at this time.

Cinderella cried. Tears were streaming down her face. Memories of her father were slowly coming back that made her cry more. Suddenly, a knock on the door was heard. Cinderella quickly wiped her tears and took a peek from the window. It was an unknown lady. Cinderella did not open the door because she didn't know who that lady was.

"Cinderella, dear, open the door" the lady told Cinderella nicely.

"How did you know my name? Who are you?" Cinderella asked her while still wiping her tears.

The lady had a light complexion with blonde hair, similar with Cinderella. She looked like she was in her 30s but she looked younger. Her blonde hair was neatly tied in a ponytail. She was wearing a light pink-colored dress with gold slashing on the bottom. It was knee length. She also had a gold necklace, it was certainly not fake. It was very rare to find gold in the village.

"Cecilia. I'm your aunt Cecilia. Your mother, Samantha's sister" the lady introduced herself.

"Aunt? With do respect, uhm...What are you doing here?" Cinderella asked her so-called aunt.

"I heard that the prince was inviting all the maidens in the town. Why not come with me?" Cinderella's aunt Cecilia invited her.

"Come with you? Yes! Of course. But...Lady Tremaine, my stepmother will be furious! And, well, I do not have any gowns or dresses that will be fit for the ball!" Cinderella told her.

"Well" Aunt Cecilia said as she handed her the most beautiful gown she had ever seen.

The gown was color blue, blue as the ocean and it sparkled like the bright stars above.

"Oh my, it's beautiful!" Cinderella was full of excitement. Finally, she could go to the ball.

Cinderella was dolled up by her aunt. Her smooth blonde hair was tied into an up-do. She was ready to go to the ball without any hesitation.

"Cinderella, before you go, take off those shoes you are wearing right now" Aunt Cecilia commanded her nicely.

"Uhm, okay?" Cinderella said as she took off her shoes.

Aunt Cecilia handed Cinderella a pair of beautiful glass slippers with a royal blue sapphire gem.

"Wh-what are these?" Cinderella asked surprised.

"These are the rare glass slippers. Only worn by the queen of England in the 10th century. Don't lose it" Aunt Cecilia explained.

"The queen? But how did you got it?" Cinderella asked her curiously. Cinderella was unable to react, she was stunned. She had a lot of doubts before trying the shoes on.

"The carriage is waiting for you outside! You are going to be late for the ball!" Aunt Cecilia hurriedly told her.

Cinderella went outside and a beautiful round carriage was waiting for her.

"Goodbye! Thank you!" Cinderella waved at her Aunt Cecilia as she hopped in the carriage.

"Stay safe, my dear!" Aunt Cecilia waved back with a smile on her face.

As Cinderella stepped out of the carriage, she was nervously shaking, afraid of getting caught by her stepmother and at the same time excited to meet the prince.

"Good evening, my lady" the host greeted Cinderella.

"Good evening" Cinderella told him smiling.

The ball was wonderful. People inside were dressed as elegant as they could because this was a once in a lifetime experience and chance to meet with the prince. Some even wore big, outrageous hats to be noticed.

"Do you know her from somewhere?" Melida pointing Cinderella, whispered at Anastasia and Drizella.

"Her face is very common and her gown, *hair flips* that is way too plain. She is not even wearing any jewelry! She is definitely not fit for meeting the prince! Not fit for the ball!" Anastasia criticized Cinderella.

"But I do like her shoes" Drizella told them as they looked at Cinderella's shiny glass slipper.

"That is just a piece of plastic" Melida told them as she walked away to get some food.

"I present to everyone the royal family! Your Royal Highness, King Aldric Barnabé VI" another one of the host announced to us and the trumpets sounded as they entered the ballroom. The King looked old maybe in his 50s. He had the traditional royal robe, the robe was passed on to every King that will rule the country. He had dark brown hair with silver streaks.

"Our Lady, Queen Celesté Emilienne Fabien-Barnabé". Everyone applauded and cheered. The queen looked very elegant and beautiful with her simple long gown. It was in the color, lavender. It glittered as she entered the ballroom. Her long gown had a belt full of small gold rhinestones. She looked like a goddess with her dark brown hair, curled up into an updo and her crown, it was fit for her, it was like she was born to be the queen. She was simple but fit for royalty.

The rumors are true, the Queen was once just a simple girl, she wasn't born with the royal blood. She lived with her mother and her younger brother (2 years age difference), Maximilian. Her father left them when Celesté (the queen) was born so she and her brother never got to meet their father. Celesté was only 17 then when her brother was very sick, he had a fever with a high temperature for 10 days straight. Their mother at the time was jobless. They couldn't afford treatment in the hospital. Celesté really wanted to help her brother, she couldn't just let him die. She worked as a maid in the palace and eventually the King (was prince then) slowly fell in love with her.

"Prince Charles David Fabien-Bernabé" every maiden in the room screeched and clapped. Prince Charles was indeed appealing to the eyes. He also had dark brown hair like his parents. His eyes were blue, blue as the ocean, it sparkled.

"Prince Charles is so handsome! I hope he dances with me!" Anastasia daydreamed.

"Oh please! Do not keep your hopes up Anastasia! Why would the prince even dance with you? Look at that jewelry of yours! Only one gem? *laughs*" Melida critcized Anastasia. Melida was one of the most who wore colorful and enormous hats to get noticed. Her gown was like a giant pastry filled with the colors of the rainbow. Her gown was sleevless and really fit at the top, able to notice her cleavage.

Anastasia ran to the powder room, crying. Drizella followed her.

Cinderella went to one of the tables to get a drink. Merida was right beside her.

"Do you think you will win the prince with that gown? How plain. And your face *hair flips* how fake, your face is covered with thousand layers of make-up. I pity you, darling" Merida insulted Cinderella with her sassy tone. Merida didn't notice that it was Cinderella, she was talking to. Since, Cinderella was all dolled up.

"Pardon?" Cinderella swallowed. She did not know what to say. She was too afraid of Merida finding out that she was Cinderella.

Merida laughed and left Cinderella by the food tables.

Suddenly a man stood beside Cinderella.

"Pardon me, my beautiful maiden, may I ask for your permission to dance with you?" It was the Prince. Prince Charles David Fabien-Bernabé. The Prince. The next heir.

Cinderella gave her a curtsy, a formal greeting used to respect and greet the royal family and nodded her head gently as the Prince held her hand.
