"Wake up," his morning husky voice locked her spirit in a cage of gratification. "We need to go and hunt our breakfast."

"Hunt?" Her voice cracked. "I am vegetarian."

He looked at her in disbelief, "you must be kidding me!"

"Listen," she got up, "you have been extremely indecorous to me since the moment we met and I tolerated it because you saved me from the Alphas. But I beg of you not to mistake my politeness for weakness. I am not scared of you and if you wish to eat meat, by all means go ahead and hunt for yourself, I shall get my own food." She tried to walk past him but he stopped her.

"You say that you are not scared?"

"I know I am not scared." She calmly corrected him.

He put his hand on her heart, "then why is your heart beating so fast?"

She did not answer.

"At this very moment, your heart beats are increasing as I get closer to you," he explained, "which is an indication of a fight or flight systematic response. Your heart is rushing to pump blood into your muscles and your brain because adrenaline is activated every time I am near you. And your body needs oxygen to reach your limbs as quickly as possible so you can react faster."

She swallowed, "if you are all knowing then why do you think my body wants to react faster when it comes to you?"

"Because it knows that you might be my prey," he looked deep into her eyes, "just like the animals out there, you are a potential feast for me. Because I am unknown to you, your body is subconsciously trying to discover if my species eat your kind to survive."

"Are you going to eat me...?"

"I want to," his thumb lightly touched her lower lip, "I want to lay you down in a hot pot. I wish to watch the boiling water slowly turn your pale skin red until you become a rose. Then I shall plug your raven hair like petals and put it on a sliver plate. No... A golden plate because your luscious body deserves the most expensive metals this earth has to offer. Then I would lick each of your limbs to savour your taste before chewing you." He teasingly bit her ear and she shivered.

"Stop," she begged, "this is not humorous."

"It is for me, my wench." He winked. "We need to get you something to eat, hopefully we will find some mushrooms for you before you die of starvation."

They both wandered around the near by forest looking for food. Unfortunately, it was winter and not many fruits or vegetables would be available this time of year. She desperately looked everywhere for a berry to tame her hunger but alas, it seemed that there was nothing for her in this forest.

"Stop," he whispered, "there is a deer. They have very sensitive ears so any sudden movement will scare it thus please be careful."

She nodded in response. She watched him take his arrow in preparation to shoot the poor animal and she could not watch.

"Wait!" She whispered as low as she could, "you will hurt it."

"That is the point, my wench."

"Let me do it," after moments of silence, she finally announced, "I have the power to quickly kill it without causing it to die from bleeding out. Please, it will be easier for it."

"If you say so," he stepped aside allowing her to directly face the deer. She tried to focus her energy on it, the deer stopped eating and started looking around for the source of this energy. Fire knew that this is her only chance to save the precious life. She kept threateningly focusing her energy on the deer to push it to run away and it finally did!

"What in the seven hells?" The brute cursed, "why did you do that?"

"Truth is I do not know how to use my powers. If you were indeed the intelligent man you claim to be, you would have guessed it by now. If I truly knew how to properly use my powers why did I not free myself from the Alphas? After all I am the chosen one which means I am more powerful than the average Alpha."

He clenched his teeth, "you shall pay for this!" He grabbed her arm and dragged her back to the hut.

"Stop you are hurting me!"

"Darling you do not know what pain is yet." He calmly said.

He pushed her on the bed and headed to the kitchen to look for a rope. She ran towards the door hoping to escape but somehow, a force blocked her body from moving. It was the brute!

"You bastard you lied to me! You are indeed an Alpha!" She yelled at him, "for only Alphas have the power to control Astéris!"

He did not answer her and instead used his powers to push her back on top of the bed while he continued searching for a rope. He came back and tied her ankles and wrists to the bedpost. "This should stop you from running away." He casually stated.

"You are an Alpha!" She yelled.

As usual, he decided to ignore her and turned around to walk out of the door.

"Why did you lie to me?" To her relief, the brute caught despair in her voice and turned around. But her relief didn't drown her concern. He spoke nothing. As if words could not be formed in his mouth. His emotionless eyes stared back at her.

"I did not lie to you..." He said.

"Do you take me for a fool? Everybody knows that only Alphas have the power to control Astéris. This is why you did not use your powers on the deer, right? Because you knew I would notice!" She scowled at him.

"I am not an Alpha," he sat beside her on the corner of the bed. "When the Alphas first came to this planet to enslave your kind, a subgroup decided to rebel against king Myron because we did not agree with his politics. When Myron discovered our intentions to kill him and democratically elect a new leader he sent us to a pit for punishment. Although I am technically an Alpha but my cluster no longer identifies as one of them."

"Why should I believe you? You said that you never tell people who you truly are so this story may be nothing but fiction." With a sob of trepidation she challenged him.

"You choose what to believe my wench," he smiled smugly, "I am going to hunt food for us. I shall be back in an hour or so."
