Chapter 1 - That Amazing Performance With My Ex-Boyfriend

“Jake you’re drunk, let’s make a stop,” I said as he drove wildly into the empty road.

“You are ridiculous Kristine, does this look drunk to you??” he glared at me and pointed at his self waiting for my answer.

“Yes Jake!” he looked away and didn’t even bother listening to me. The speed of the car went faster and faster and I couldn’t count the beats my heart was making, he was doing this on purpose.

“Dammit Jake!” I slapped his arm and once again he ignored me. The usual Jake, he was always hard-headed and it made me really angry. “If you don’t stop this car right now, we’re over.” Yes… I threaten people when I get angry, but mostly him. He immediately made a stop in a convenience store and jolted out of the car leaving me alone.  I went out by myself and was surprised to see him sitting at a table drinking more beer.  I stood in front of him and crossed out my arms.

“What?” he asked “Is this all you ever want to do? Drink?” I rolled my eyes whilst I asked him.

“Probably. Got a problem with that?” his eyebrows rose making me mad.

“Jake, I told you to make a stop for you to sober up not to drink again! Idiot!”  He rose up and pinned me against the wall.

“Yeah, too bad you loved an idiot.” I struggled to get out his arms. “lovED. Jake, too bad its past tense.” And finally, I got out of his hold and walked outside to get my things from his vehicle and looked for a ride home.

I was tearing up in a few seconds, It wasn’t because I broke up with the man I was completely In love with since Junior year, I mean we could probably try again (?) but it's because of how he completely changed after we graduated Highschool. But it was time for me to move forward. I couldn't let him keep on controlling me, our love was being unfair for the both of us. Water began to pour from my eyes as I sniffed as silent as I could so I wouldn't catch any attention from anyone.

“I guess you could use this,” Somebody was handing me a hankerchief at my first thought it was Jake so I didn't wanna take it but when I looked up, I was surprised to see a boy that looked like he had the same age as mine.

“Thanks,” I took the hankerchief off his hands thankfully.

“I saw what happened inside the store.”

“Oh my gosh that was embarrasing,” I said as I wiped the tears from my eyes. “Sorry you had to see that.”

“No. It's alright. No girl deserves to be treated that way,” he said.

“Yeah.. Well, maybe I do.”

“Nope. I don't think so. C'mon get up! I'll give you a ride home.”

“You, know... you don't have to. I owe you a hanky though...,” I said while I faked a smile at him as I stood up. His eyes were locked into mine. Those hazel green eyes are tantalizing. I'd never dreamed of meeting someone as good-looking as him. And as kind, too. Most of the handsome people I see are arrogant but this guy... He's just perfect.

“It's okay. It's yours to keep, now let's go because I think you really need to get back home,” he was such a gentleman wow, I just met this person last 5 minutes ago and he offers me a ride home? Well I guess there's still a bit of good karma left in me.

On the ride home, I was a bit frantic because it was already 3 am and only God knows what could this person do to me but I had no other options than to trust him, after all he did make a good impression.
