Bucky Tries to Kill Himself

BUCKY IS ON THE LEDGE OF THE AVENGERS TOWER

WANDA TRIES TO TALK HIM DOWN

"No no no no no no absolutely not. Come down here right now."

"I won't"

"Please!"

"I won't"

Desperate, Wanda's winded.

"You know you'll survive! The the serum! The serum will-"

"My training with Hydra also included how to suppress survival training to kill myself."

"Steve! Steve will be broken without you! He lost you once, it can't happen again! Steve will- he'll-"

"He'll do much better without me. I'm just a burden, a hurdle. I'm breaking him."

"Natasha! What about her? Clint can't always console her nervous breakdowns! Who's-"

"Natasha is strong. She's lost people already. I'm just one."

Wanda is desperate. Being home alone while the Avengers were out on a mission was a terrible idea.

It was fun the first few months but now.

"I don't matter." Bucky says as he takes one foot of the ledge.

"NO!"

His foot still hovers, it's almost like he's scared.

"Bucky, I know you're scared. They'll come back I promise. Steve, Bruce, Clint all of them please just don't do this."

He leans forward.

"FOR ME!"

He stills

"Live for me." She says softer and out of breath

"I'm just new at this. I've only lost my family. I don't want to lose my second brother please don't leave me please..." She says crying from desperation and panic.

Bucky puts his feet back on the ledge.

He swings back over and runs to her. He squeezes her into a tight hug.

"Pietro would be very proud of all you've accomplished. You've saved lives and helped so many people find peace."

She sobs into him. Holding him tight.

He pushes hair out of her face.

"So please, understand this isn't your fault."

"What?"

Bucky squeezes her once last time before racing over to the ledge.

"BUCKY NO!"

And he disappears.

Wanda chases after him and flings her hands forward.

She catches him mid-decent. Towards the floor with the common room.

Bucky moves around aimlessly trying to break out of her grasp.

Tears down her face, she reels him back in.

Once on his feet on the terrace, she pulls him into the tightest hug. He nearly feels his sternum crack.

"Never put me through that again."

He pats her hair. And he finally breaks down.

"I'm sorry." He says sobbing.

Lots of broken "I'm sorry"'s and holding on the roof.

Eventually then find that she nearly snapped her wrists. Cho says, "your instinct to catch him was physical but because it was so fast, your brain didn't have time to process countermeasures so that you don't hurt yourself. You can still use your hands, just wear the wrist braces for 7 weeks. I know how much you need your hands for your work."

Wanda issues a 76 hour suicide watch. Hulk holding cell. like the one from vault D in AOS

She stays on the other side of the screen.

She had to help Bucky change into scrubs as he couldn't do it himself and saw all the scars he'd been hiding. The ones by Hydra she'd seen, she'd never seen the self-inflicted ones.

She's about to renew the suicide watch when the Quinjet lands and Steve hits the ground running.

"Oh god Bucky! Oh Wanda I'm so-"

They hug and cry and Bucky cries and leans helplessly against the screen.

Steve to Wanda: "I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I should've been here. I should've never taken the mission-"

"You were just doing your job. Like I was."

"Yes Wanda yes god yes. You save lives yes that is the best mindset please never loose optimism."

Steve convinces Wanda to open the screen.

Bucky collapses against the floor. Taking Steve with him.

"Bucky-" tears, lots of tears.

Lots of tight holding and desperate tugging and "'m sorry"'s.

Exchanged between the two of them.

"M'so sorry Bucky I wasn't here for you M'sorry"

"M'sorry Steve I-I wasn't strong enough I-" out of breath

The rest of the team rushes in.

Clint "Oh god Wanda."

"Clint I- swear I-"

"Shhh, c'mere."

Wanda cries into Clint's chest.

"It's okay it's okay."

Thor consoles Wanda too.

Eventually, everyone is on the floor group-hugging Bucky.

Steve and Natasha are the closest.

Then Clint, Wanda, Thor, Sam, Scott, Bruce and Rhodes.

Vision supervised.

Bucky felt (guilty/selfish/worthy of living).
