*Wednesday*
School was over. I walked home, happy that we didn't have to move out. These people, made me happy. They took care of me, loved me. To see them go made me broken. I should stop thinking about it. After all, it's my birthday!
I went inside the house, waiting for a surprise. No one was home. Strange, I just told them it was my birthday a couple of hours ago. I went inside my room, to see Sergio sleeping. What a sleepy head.
"Hey Metha!," I turned to the right to see Kalia creeping behind me. I got a little scared but to see it was Kalia, I calmed down.
"Oh hey. Do you know what today is?," I asked.
"Yeah I know. It's your birthday. Sorry that I didn't get anything," she said. She squeezed her arms, worried that I might be mad.
"That's okay. I am the newest one here, so I didn't expect you guys to get me anything," I lied.
Sergio woke up, rubbing his eyes. "Uhh, what are you guys doing here?," he groaned.
"Sorry, let's go chat in the living room," I suggested. I went into the dark living room and closed the door behind me. The lights suddenly turned on. Jernee popped out with party poppers and shot them into the air. Natalie and Mikaela held the cake and set it on the table.
"I know it wasn't a surprise, but here's your birthday party!," Kalia cheered. Sergio came into the living room, pushing me towards the cake. He was so bad at pretending to be asleep.
I walked towards the cake. I sat at the couch, feeling really happy.
"Well, make a wish," Natalie said.
I thought of a wish. I thought of my friends, never leaving my side. Hoping they will never hate me. I sucked in a bunch of air and blew it out. Just one more year then I can drink alcohol.
"Yay!," everyone cheered. I felt really happy. It's too much. Too overwhelming. I started to feel dizzy. Everything was blurry. My vision started to turn dark.
I was on my bed with a towel on my head. Everything was so bright, it hurt my eyes.
I laid on the bed, unable to open my eyes. I could only hear voices. People talking.
"Maybe the surprise was too much," Sergio said.
"It's a shame it'll be the last birthday he'll have here," Natalie said.
"Shh, he could probably hear us," Sergio said.
"He's clearly asleep you idiot," Mikaela yelled.
"Anyways, did you guys see the post notes on your desk?," Sergio asked.
"I did," everyone answered.
"The woman is kicking us all out. Believe it or not, she's actually the landlord. The rent here is really high, even we can't pay it," Kalia explained.
"So that's why the woman has been real harsh on us," Mikaela thought.
"It's best if we don't tell Metha. He's had enough surprises for today," Jernee worried. I could hear footsteps leaving the room. Maybe I'm dreaming. I hope it was a dream.
*next day*
I walked around the living room, thinking how I should tell the others about what I heard. Or maybe I shouldn't tell them at all. Sergio came out of his room, clearly stressed out. I shouldn't bother him like this, but it's just been on my mind.
"Uhhhmmm," I thought.
"What is it?," he asked. His voice was different. He was angry.
"You look mad, stressed out," I worried. I patted him on the back. He backed away.
"Mad? Of course I'm mad. Why shouldn't I be?," he yelled.
Sergio started to break the table and threw the dishes. Kalia ran out of her room and grabbed his hand.
"What are you doing?," she asked.
"How could you act so calm? We are all going to be separated, never seeing each other again! How could you be so calm?," he asked.
"But you don't have to go on and breaking everything! We are adults! We can't be clinging onto each other everyday," she reasoned. Sergio started to calm down. His breathing started to cool.
The others came out of their room, confused on what happened. I felt bad for him.
*It cut the ending off sorry! I'm too lazy to do it again. I'll just sum it up.*
I got to a new address to see my friends. The woman had set us all up. The sun shined into my face. I got kissed. By two different people. I couldn't see who they were.
