Harry, Ron, Autumn, and Hermione sat in the library. No one else was there, except for the librarian, but she wasn't paying attention. Harry had rushed in there in a hurry and told them what he had seen; Hagrid being kicked out of Hogwarts by caring for a giant creature.
"Are you sure it was Hagrid, Harry? Setting free a monster within the castle doesn't seem like something he'd do," Autumn asked.
"I'm positive. Riddle showed me through his Diary; I saw it myself."
"Maybe it was fake?" Autumn suggested, stating it as a question. She had once thought Norace's journal was fake, but after knowing everything about her and putting spells in her brain, Autumn was sure it was real.
"Tell it again, Harry. Maybe you're leaving something out," Hermione asked, setting her quill down.
Autumn watched as Harry reacted; his shoulders tensed, his jaw tightened, and his eyes widened slightly. He obviously didn't want to believe it was Hagrid either.
"Maybe we should just ask Hagrid." Autumn suggested, trying to prevent Harry from telling the story.
"That'd be a cheerful visit," said Ron sarcastically. "'Hello, Hagrid. Tell us, have you been setting anything mad and hairy loose in the castle lately?'"
"How about we say something if there's another attack?" Autumn asked.
They all agreed.
Since the last attack was a little over four months ago, they hoped that they never had to bring it up.

In a student's second year, they're given new subjects to choose from in their third year. Hermione took it very seriously.
"This will affect our whole future." Hermione said.
"I just want to give up Potions," said Harry.
"We can't." said Ron gloomily. "We keep all our old subjects, or I'd've ditched Defense Against the Dark Arts."
"But that's very important!" said Hermione, shocked.
"Not the way Lockhart teaches it." said Ron. "I haven't learned anything from him except not to set pixies loose."
Autumn had no idea what she wanted to take. She never really thought about it.
Percy was more than happy to give advice. "It depends on what you want your career to be," he would say.
In the end, Autumn did the same subjects as Ron and Harry. Hermione just signed up for all of them.

Hermione and Autumn were doing homework in the Common Room. Autumn asked Hermione which classes she was looking forward to next year when Harry and Ron ran down, and explained what had happened: the diary was stolen.
"It would've had to have been a Gryffindor, no other houses know the passwords," Autumn said.
"But why would someone want it?" Ron asked.
"I don't know." Harry said. "All I know is that somehow, the diary is important."
The four left the Great Hall, so that Harry could grab his Quidditch gear. The second Autumn set foot out of the Great Hall, she heard the voice.
"Kill this time. . . Let me rip. . . tear. . ."
"The voice!" Autumn yelled at them.
"It's going to kill again!" Harry whispered loudly.
