01: My Giant Brothers

[ F I N N ]

My phone vibrates in my pocket, someone sending me a text. I ignore the incoming message and continue to kick the grass, waiting in silence for Daniel to come out of school and take us home. He's taking forever. The school grounds are empty, not a single soul except for me and Axel can be seen in sight. It's so quiet, it's sorta scary. If I were standing here without Axel I'd probably be freaking out that Daniel wasn't coming back. Axel and Daniel have left me standing on the curb before, leaving me to walk home by myself and nearly getting run over by a car.

I look up at Axel, whose sitting on the curb next to me. His long legs spread out in front of him, his black ripped jeans bunching a little around his crotch. His grey jacket hangs loosely around his giant frame and his black backpack leans against the curb near me.

"I wish you were here today, I was so lonely in art" Axel brushes his light brown hair out of his eyes, looking down at his hand in his lap he avoids any eye contact with me. I smirk at him, he's such a suck up to his girlfriend.

He's talking to his girlfriend, Piper on the phone. She has long strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes and she's a dancer. Piper has gone over seas for a week and Axel misses her like she's dead or something. They act as if they haven't seen each other in years, even though it has only been a few hours since they last talked.
OH! How could I forget. Piper is Vareshian, a giant. Just like my seventeen year old brother Axel Williams and my eighteen year old brother Daniel Williams and my little sister, Lola Williams, who is turning twelve next week. They are all Vareshian or what the humans call them giants, just like my/their dad Lincoln Williams.

I'm human, just like my mother, Ash Williams. Your probably wondering, how does a giant and a human have children? I thought that too, but my mum and my STEP-dad got together when I was seven, Lola four, when Axel was nine and Daniel ten. We are a big family and we all get along, most the time. Yeah, we sometimes have our differences over the stupid little things. Daniel and Axel tend to lock themselves in their rooms with their girlfriends or text/call their girlfriends for hours. And sometimes they go off to party's and come back late then completely pass out.

Axel and Daniel go to parties most weekends. Ive been to a few, but I'm just not the partying type. I get bored after a while and just end up sitting on someone's shoulder the entire night, bored out of my mind. I don't drink, don't smoke and don't do any of that shit that people think I do. Maybe dance and kiss a few girls, maybe even play truth or dare. That's it. Trust me, when your playing truth or dare with giants and human teenagers, it gets intense. Once I had to sit in someone's mouth for ten seconds! The longest ten seconds of my life. I had nightmares about being eaten for months.

"Yeah babe, I'm just waiting here with Finn for Dani to come pick us up. He left his books in his locker and we're just sitting out the front for him" Axel nods and looks down at me standing next to him, "Yeah, he's good" I roll my eyes, knowing she's asking about me. She thinks I'm cute and always pinches my cheeks. I hate when she pinches my cheeks and ruffles up my hair, it's annoying and it hurts. I'm fifteen, not five.

I turn around to look back at the school behind us. Its high brick walls towering over me, it's giant doors a little bigger then Axel. I can spot the human door carved out next to the Vareshian doors. A single door painted blue like the sky. A thick glass dome and walkway surrounds the door so no Vareshian can pick up any humans whilst they're on their way to class. It's happened to me before. I was walking with my human friend Jeremy, talking about soccer training we had that afternoon, when my other friend, Matt picked me up and dropped me in his shirt pocket. It happened so fast I didn't know what happened. I thought I had suddenly died.
