Hellish Nights

Silence presses down upon the ears.
Crashes down crushing with quiet fears.
It's nothing, there's nothing, fear nothing

*tick*tock*tick*tock*tick*tock*tick*

Time trickles slowly by, nothing is coming

*tick*tock*tick*tock*tick*tock*click*

A subtle shift, an undeniable change.
The air stills, a sudden chill, quietly strange.

*click*tock*click*tock*click*tock*click*

Mind drifting, eyes screwed tightly shut.

*click*tock*click*tock*click*tock*click*

A sense of waiting, for something, for what?
Pulse unsteady, increasing, rapid
Safety is an illusion, conjured in the light
Lights fades, and the mind becomes rabid
Those in the shadows, hidden, out of sight
Cruel faces loom on the edge, monstrous,
Wispy figures, nebulous dread, shift on the unconscious.

Whispers with no voices, trapped with no way out
Trapped, suffocating, can't breath, can't shout.
There's no air, no air, can't inhale, no air
All watch, all laugh, can't hide, no longer here
Nowhere to go, can't escape, go away
Get out , get out, why does it stay
Fading, wading, like a thick mud, stuck
Alone, dark, crowded within my head
Dancing and prancing, running amok
Cold, numb, unfeeling tendrils lie dead.
Wrapped around, leeching, pulling closer
No comfort, don't resist, just feel colder.
Till drained of all that's left.
Tired from the cruel theft.
Sinking into the deep.
Drifting further from sleep.

Morning light shines on the broken eyes.
Unaware of its well meaning lies.
