“Yay, we’re working together,” my friend, Janet, says as I walk in. We both work at a restaurant in town that is just one of the friendliest restaurants you will ever go to. It’s always a great day when the two of us work together.
“Yea we are,” I said as I put my stuff in the back room. “It’s so dead today.”
“It’s been like this all week.”
“I know. I’ve never seen it so dead.”
I tied my apron around my waist and joined Janet at the front. Two people walked in the door. They looked awfully familiar but I couldn’t place where I had seen them before. They sat down at the counter and I walked over to them to bring them their menus.
“Hi. My name is Zoey and I will be your waitress for today,” I said. “Can I get you guys any drinks to start out with?”
“I’ll have a Coke,” one of them answered.
“Same,” The other added.
“Okay, coming right up.” I walked over to the soda machine and started to get the two sodas. Janet came running over to me from the table she was working at.
“Do you know who that is??” she asked. She seemed awfully excited.
“They look familiar but I have no idea.”
“That’s Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin from 5 Seconds Of Summer!” she said in a squealing whisper. “And it looks like Ashton is checking you out.”
“Shhhhh keep your cool will ya?”
I brought their drinks over to them
“Are you guys ready to order or would you like some more time?”
“Well actually we are waiting for two more people to come so we will wait,” Ashton answered.
“Okay. Sounds good.”
Before I could even get back over to where Janet was, she was already trying to talk to me.
“Every time you turn your back, Ashton just stares after you, like he wants to say something but just can’t.”
“Janet, will you calm down?”
“But this could be a great day. You could get your first boyfriend.”
“I doubt that. Why would Ashton Irwin choose a girl like me.”
“You never know.” She said as she walked away with a tray for her table. I turned to look over at Calum and Ashton. When I did, I saw Ashton’s head quickly turn away from my direction. Maybe he does like me.
Luke and Michael walked in a few minutes later and took their spots next to Calum and Ashton. At the same time, two weird guys that have always tried to flirt with Janet and I walked into the restaurant and sat down at the counter.
“Yo, hottie, why don’t you get the twos of us some Cokes, will ya?” one asked.
“Well, maybe if you said it in a nicer, more respectful tone, I’d be more willing to help you out,” I said as I walked over to Luke and Michael to find out what they wanted for drinks.
“She’s getting frisky. I like it,” said the other. I stopped dead in my tracks.
“Hey, you want to be more respectful, please? Because I’m about two sentences away from calling the cops on you guys. Again.”
“Awe, sexy wants us to be quiet.”
I rolled my eyes and continued with the task I was doing before.
