*about a week later*

“Have fun at dance!” Mom called as I got into Andrew’s car.

“I will!” I called back.

I awkwardly sat in the back of his car. Andrew and Janet were talking cute in the front seat and had to kiss at every red light. I can not wait until I get my liscence. I have my permit but I have to wait like three more months to get my lisence. I can’t wait. Like seriously.

We got to the dance studio. As always, we were one of the last ones to get there. We got ready to do our practice number.

“5, 6, 7, 8,” our choreographer said.

The music started playing and we danced our best. Once we were finished, We all took a break.

“So I have some good new and some bad news for you guys,” she said. “Which do you want to hear first?”

“Good news,” everyone kept saying.

“Okay, so good news,” she started. “We have been asked to joined the world competition! Here is the information on that and also the plane tickets and everything.” She handed us eacha little packet. “So that’s the one for the whole studio in Australia. Then, we have been asked to provide a duet and two solo dancers to enter a competition that is in England. The dancers that I have chosen are…” Everyone did a drum roll on the ground. “Zoey and Alex for the duet and each of you are going to do a solo.” She handed the two of us another packet. “Now, we need to figure out what songs and routines we are going to do. Zoey, Janet, Andrew, and Alex, take it away.”

“Okay, so for our first group routine, I was thinking we do our Banga! Banga! Routine as our upbeat dance,” I said looking through the information. “Now we just need a slower one for the second part.”

“How about What Now?” Janet suggested,

“Sounds good to me,” Alex said.

“Great,” said Mrs. Humpfrey. “Now you two need to work out the duet and solos.”

“Wrecking Ball for the duet and I’ll do Roar,” I said.

“I’ll do Don’t Wake Me Up,” Alex said.

“Awesome,” Mrs. Humpfrey said. “Now for the bad news. The plane to Australia leaves tomorrow. So I’m letting you guys out early today in order to pack. So let’s get to practicing!”

“Wait, the plane leaves tomorrow?” I asked.

“Yes, Zoey, tomorrow.”

I just kind of stood there for a second. That means I have about 24 hours to say goodbye to Ashton until who knows when.

“Come on, Zoey,” Janet said.

“Coming.”

We went through Banga Banga first. Then What Now. Alex and I did our duet to Wrecking Ball. Alex did his solo first. Then I went through mine.

“Nice work guys,” Mrs. Humpfrey said. “You are free to leave.”

We walked over to our bags and got ready to leave.

“You okay?” Janet asked me.

“I think so,” I said as a tear ran down my cheek.

“I know it’s going to be hard to say goodbye to him. I can’t even imagine how hard it’s going to be.”

“I’ll get through it.”

When I got home, I told my mom everything and she made me start packing. While in my room I called Ashton.

Hey cutie he said when he picked up the phone.

Hey. Can you come over right now?

On my way.

About 10 minutes later, he walked into my room.

“So, what’s up?” he asked.

“We got into the competition.”

“That’s awesome!” He gave me a big hug. “I’m so glad for you.”

“There’s just one problem,” I said.

He looked into my eyes. “What?” he asked.

“The plane leaves tomorrow,” I answered. I could feel the tears building up in my eyes.

“Don’t cry,” he said as he wiped a tear off of my cheek.

“But I don’t want to leave you.”

“It’s going to be okay.” He pulled me in for another hug and I cried into his shoulder. “We will be together soon after your competition.”

“I sure hope so.”
