Alaric Saltzman . Just his name gave you butterflies . That man was the definition of perfection. He was strong, brave , smart and definitely easy on the eyes . One big problem . He was quite a bit older than you . There was no way he could ever feel the same.  You were pretty sure he thought of you as a child . When the group was in trouble he wouldn't let you help or put yourself in danger. He probably thought of you as a weak kid. It was a hopeless crush you had . Little did you know that was far from the truth . He had been head over heels for you for a long time . He felt like a perv but he couldn't control his feelings . And you weren't that young . He thought you were beautiful, brave and compassionate , smart , strong and Eager to learn anything you could. He adored you . By the time he got the courage up to tell you mystic falls was in danger once again . Like always . So he called you and asked you to meet him at his house when he called to say he was done helping Damon . You were ecstatic. You got ready . You put on your favorite outfit and actually did your make up . You were so happy. You waited as patiently as you could for the call . But the phone call you got wasn't the one you expected ." You were met with the teary eyed sympathetic looks of your all knowing friends . They knew how much you cared. You walked into his hospital room and waited for the doctor . " Mr. Saltzman has sustained sufficient blunt force trauma . If he makes it through the night there is a good chance he'll survive and wake up but there is always a high risk of him not waking up. I'm sorry ." The doctor informed you . "Can he hear me?" You asked . "We aren't 100% sure but we think he probably can." The doctor replied with a sad smile. "Ric ? I don't know if you can hear me but I'm going to need you to wake up . Please wake up . Please . I can't do this without you . I didn't get to tell you . I didn't get to tell you that I loved you . So you gotta wake up . You aren't allowed to die on me . Do you hear me damnit?!" You said sobbing uncontrollably. " I love you too." " what? Ric did you just talk?" Alaric opened his eyes and with a small smile he repeated himself. "Oh my god. Ric you are alive!" You exclaimed . You smashed your lips to his . He kissed back eagerly . "Nurse! Nurse he's awake !" You informed her .  The rest of the gang came and saw him .  He was happy everyone else was okay . Damon had taken care of the problem and all was well. After about a week and he was released and asked you to pick him up . " so . What are we exactly ?" You asked cautiously . " well I was hoping to do this over a nice dinner but will you be my girlfriend?" Alaric asked. " yes I will. It's okay that it wasn't over a dinner . We could be sitting anywhere and I'd still say yes ." You replied kissing him.  You couldn't help but smile when he took your hand in his . Maybe this wasn't so hopeless after all.
