Hermes had goton an ergent message that he had to deliver right away so he opened his gift and out popped a portal. When he jumped in it did not take he the the heavens, but to a place much like the bottom of the ocean. Hermes started flipping out, he jumped back through the portal and found himself where he was before, and just like Aphrodite and Eros he was ready to never see Poseidon again.
This was how fear was made between the gods and the humans.
