I feel the mattress I'm sleeping on breath heavily, and a long scratchy tongue lick my face to wake me up.

I slowly open my eyes, and I am face to face with Fang, who is gently prodding my head to stir my consciousness.

I scratch his head. It has been exactly one week since I made clothes, and the weather had gotten considerably worse over the course of a few days.

Beavers are common, and I managed to make a sleeping bag from one, further down the cave are crystals and deposits of metal, but I would need a pick, or an axe to gather large enough chunks.

Fang has filled out, his fur is thicker, his belly is fuller, and the wound on his head has almost fully healed, you could barely see the scar on his shoulder.

He licks my face again, and I push his gigantic face away.

"I'm up, I'm up Fang." I say, my voice laced with sleep.

I crawl out of my sleeping bag, stretching out I look out the cave entrance.

Snow is whipping every direction, the wind is howling and biting every living thing. Ice has frozen the drip in the cave, Fang is covered in snow.

I now have a new problem, water, the drip was my source of cool fresh water. And it was frozen over. I now needed to melt snow.

It would have not been an issue, but I did not have a container to place the snow in. I had always just used my hands.

I see a long piece of wood and a stone, and using my knife I carve a hole into the wood, I then take the stone and place it inside the primitive, and haphazardly made bowl.

I have some rotten meat in the back that I kept in case It was useful somewhere. And I dully remember that rotten meat could make a good narcotic painkiller when paired with a certain type of berry.

I pick up each berry and settle on a black berry, it had a sweet scent, tasted awful, but makes me extremely tired when I eat it.

I crush them both together into a thick green paste and I sniff it,

It almost knocks me out, it is that strong. And I hold it away from my face and sit it in a corner where I laid down a mat to lay stuff on.

I continue to make bowls and narcotics, until I run out of rotten meat and berries. I have about ten bowls of the stuff, and I drape hide over them so it doesn't stink up the cave.

I use some hide and make a waterproof container, it holds water, but it also leaks, and I use that to make water.

Fang suddenly stands and growls. He his standing at the entrance of the cave, his teeth bared.

"What's wrong boy?" I ask and he glances at me and continues to bark and growl into the blizzard.

I hear yelling, and a high pitched roar and Fang barks louder, and then I hear a blood curdling scream.

I hop on Fangs back and he runs into the blizzard. I can't see a thing but apparently he can. And he pounces on an unseen object.

It has feathers and scales, teeth, and claws. And I pull out a torch to see, at first it takes a second to light, but after it does a see that Fang is fighting a dinosaur, a raptor from the looks of it.
