We put a hide flap into the entrance of the cave, now it was slightly warmer.

Aphmau had made her own sleeping bag, her own spear, and is fiddling with some materials at the side of the cave, trying to make a bow.

I was making more narcotics, and Fang was asleep next to the fire, his low breathy snoring keeping us all awake.

I had made arrows with dodo feathers and flint, a sturdy wooden rod connected the two, and I hear a snap and a curse, Aphmau had broken her bow again.

"Agh! This is impossible!" She sighs and throws the broken bow into the pile of other broken bows.

"It's not, here let me help." I offer my assistance, she glares but sighs in defeat, and scoots over for me to sit beside her.

I take my hunting knife and make a long, slightly wet piece of wood in a curve, leaving two tabs on each end, and laid it down.

Aphmau picks it up and took her knife and starts engraving something on it, swirls and leaves, in the middle a giant A, for her name.

I start braiding fiber together to make the bowstring, after a month of surviving out here my clumsy hands have gotten more accurate, It is still challenging, but I finally got it braided and I ask for the bow back.

I grab it and look down, she had engraved a very detailed wolves head and a spear next to her name, the rest of the bow was covered in engravings of leaves and spirals.

"Someone's an artist." I say, and her cheeks go pink for a second, but she shakes it off and grins.

"Might as well make it mine, right?" She replies , watching my hands as I tie the braided bowstring onto the bow.

I pull the bow back, it makes a creaking sound, but does not break.

I loosen the string a little and pull it back again this time it goes smoothly, and I grin. She looks ecstatic.

"See? Not impossible." I smile and laugh when she makes a sound of excitement and snatches the bow out of my hands, she grabs an arrow and aims at the back of the cave wall where the crystals were.

She sets up the arrow, and pulls back the bow, suddenly becoming very calm, she breaths in, and closes her eyes and she releases the bow as she breaths out.

It cut through the air like a knife and hit the wall, sticking into a crevasse on the wall, she opened her eyes, and smirked.

"I still got it."

My head explodes in pain and again I am surrounded by a blue mist. I'm staring at a plate, a bite taken out of the food on it, and a familiar figure looking at me.

"Well, is it okay?" Aphmau asks, he eyes hopeful, she's wearing a pink apron and a bow in her hair. Her voice echoes

"It's great babe!" I say, though I didn't even open my mouth.

"Hah! I told you, I still got it!"

"Hey, are you okay? Hello? Earth to Aaron!" I come back to Aphmau waving her hand in front of my face.

What? What was that? Were-Were we..... together before all this?

Don't be stupid. It's just your mind playing tricks on you. You've never met her before.

"Yeah? Oh sorry. I must have zoned out." I cover up my bluff with a smile and she rolls her eyes.

"Then get your head out of the clouds. I was asking if you wanted to go with me and Fang, we're heading out to explore." She crosses her arms looking at me impatiently, it had quickly become a familiar sight.

"Yeah! The more we know about the place the better." I reply, using my spear to help me up, I slip my gloves on. And follow her and Fang out the hide flap that was the entrance.

The cold winter air immediately attacked me, but I was used to it by now, and I walk alongside Fang, Aphmau is on the other side, shuffling up a hill.

It is quiet, too quiet, the only sound that can be heard is the wind and our feet crunching the snow.

Fang let's out a low, deep, almost inaudible growl, he get's in front of both of us, protecting us both from some unseen creature deep in the forest we were beside.

The earth moves, trees fall leaving a wake in the forest, something huge was moving very quickly in our direction.

With a loud concussive roar something gigantic crashes out of the forest, something big, black, and glowing red piercing eyes.

The T-Rex roars and spots us, I feel numb, paralyzed in fear, Aphmau gasps and scrambles into Fang, she grabs me by my hood and flings me onto Fang's back.

The Rex charges , showing it's bloodstained, sharp teeth and let's out a loud fear raising roar.

Fang doesn't need direction to run, he sprints into the forest, right under the Rex's leg's, Aphmau was hunkering down, trying not to get hit with a stray branch.

The trees do not slow the Rex down, it charges through the trees like a bulldozer, it was gaining fast.

Fang is huffing, he is not used to running so fast this long, but the Rex behind us kept us moving, I pat his sides, I know it's hard on him.

We run head first into a heard of Triceratops, or as I like to call them, Trikes, they ignored us, and they ignored Fang.

Fang flew past them and hid in the bushes, trying to catch his breath, he is panting, his sides aching from running.

The Rex bulldozes into the heard, realizing it's mistake.

The Trikes huff and snort, and make  a defensive wall of horn and muscle around their young.

The Rex steps back, knowing it's limits and that it is severely outnumbered. It huffs in defeat and steps off, stomping back into the depths of the forest.

All of us are filled with adrenaline, breathing hard and fast, and I had to lean back to calm down.

I am shaking, Aphmau is shaking. Fang is panting and shuddering. I feel unable to move.

I hear Aphmau gulp and turn towards me, clutching the stitch in her chest and and her eyes wide in fear.

I gulp, and then out of nervousness I start giggling, and snickering, she snorts and starts laughing too, Fang shakes us off his back but we're still laughing.

He flops down and groans. He laid his big head on my lap in exhaustion, and whined.

"I know bud, you did good, we're safe." I look up through the snow covered canopy and sigh. I lean back against a tree and Aphmau leans against Fang like he is a pillow.

"For now, how are we going to get home with that thing in the way. I don't wanna get eaten." She makes a good point, maybe if we went around the long way we could get home and avoid the Rex.
