"You don't eat it, you just need to rub it on the wound. It should take some of the pain away." I step closer, she backs away, but takes the paste from me a second later."Fine, but, turn around. Don't watch me." I roll my eyes but turn around. I hear her make a disgusted whine and Fang decides he's going to rest his giant face on my head.
"Fang, could you not?" I say the weight of his head not really heavy, I just feel stupid.
He makes a sound that sounded a lot like a laugh, and presses down harder on my head, it was a little heavy now.
"Fang. No." He presses down harder, putting all of his weight into it, I double over trying to not collapse from his massive size.
"Fang!" He Finally knocks me over, laying on my back like I am a pillow.
"Fang!!" He stuffs his snout into my back, making a muffled bark, and then licks everything he can reach.
"Stop! Fang!" I start laughing, and I hear Aphmau join in, she chuckles a little before placing the paste in a ledge. She had put bandages around the places she put paste.
"Aghhh! No! Get off me!" I yell, making Fang lick even more furiously. I try to shove him
off but he refuses to stop.Aphmau very slowly walks to Fang, her movements short and soft and gentle, she pats Fangs back and he turns his head, giving me room to get up.
"Haha! Not today Fang, not today!" I cheer and he gives me an unamused look, well, as unamused as a wolf can me. But turn's his attention back on Aphmau.
She's not really terrified, but I can tell she's nervous. I walk to her side and watch as she hesitates putting her small hand on Fang's giant head.
I grab her hand and she flinches, but once realizing what I was doing, she let me hover her hand over his head.
Pain shoots from the diamond in my arm to my head but I remain steady, staring down at two pairs of hands in a cloudy blue mist, I slip a diamond ring onto the smaller, softer hand, then I am engulfed in warmth once again.
Aphmau's hand slowly hit Fang's head and he closed his big yellow eyes, enjoying the feeling of being petted.
I release her hand, why did I remember that? What was so different about this girl that triggered memories? I had to get her to stick around, maybe I could learn more.
"S-See? I told ya he wouldn't hurt you." I was still recovering from my sudden memory recovery, my head is pounding, and the more I try to remember the more it hurts.
"Yeah! You are just a big puppy aren't you?" She scratches his head with a little more force and he wags his massive grey tail.
I look out the cave entrance, the blizzard has died down a little, but it was still to bad to go out, especially if Aphmau was with me.
"How did you get stuck in that storm anyway? How long have you been out here all alone?" I ask, not really personal questions, but she seemed to be new, like me, I had thought I was the only person.
"I just washed up on shore, I think..... and I was looking for shelter when the storm got really bad. I couldn't see anything and I walked right into the path of that thing. And, Well, You know the rest." She explained, sitting down by the fire, staring deeply into it like she was thinking about something.
"Okay." She began, striking my attention like a match.
"I know this sounds weird. But have we met before, I feel like you're an old friend. But, I don't think we've ever met." I feel relieved, so I'm not the only one who thought so, I thought I was just going crazy from the isolation.
"I thought I was the only one. Maybe we knew each other before we came here, but I don't remember much." I reply, and I see her shift on the cave floor.
"Neither do I, But I guess it wouldn't matter anyway, would it? We can't do anything until this storm passes." She makes a movement to the cave entrance, and sighs.
"It's just gonna suck when I have to survive on this island alone." She finishes and takes a stick and prods the fire, curling up in a ball.
"You don't have to do it alone." The words come flying out of my mouth like birds migrating for the winter, so fast I couldn't stop them.
She looks up at my in a confused yet flattered look.
"I mean.... We have a better chance of not dying if we stick together right? Safety in numbers." I elaborate, twiddling my thumbs behind my back, for some reason, I have a feeling I know the answer.
"You're some random dude that a barely know, and you have a giant wolf that could eat me whole." She says sarcastically, and I can't help but think we've had the same conversation before, except, well not about a giant wolf.
"But..... You do have more experience than me when it comes to survival. And, you're not a jerk as far as I can tell. So.... I'll take you up on that offer." She grins and sticks out her hand for me to shake.
"Looks like we're a team, Aaron."
"Looks like we're partners Aaron. Let's go before Katelyn gets mad at us."
My head feels like it is going to explode, but now I have a name, Katelyn, the name makes me nervous, like I'm about to get punched in the face.
"Yeah, a team." I shake her hand and Fang stuffs his snout in my pocket, making a grunting sound like he was mad at me.
"What's wrong with you?" He just grunts again and shoves his snout further in my pocket, luckily, my pocket was big enough or he would rip it.
Aphmau snorts and I put my hands on either side of his giant face. He avoids my eyes like they are the bane of his existence.
"Are you mad at me? Hmmm? Are you mad?" He avoids my eyes still, and makes a "hrruph!" Sound.
"Oh my god. My first girlfriend is a giant wolf."
