Chapter 14

~Marks POV~

She's gone. She's insane. She's something else. There was fire everywhere in the room now. It was hard to breath. "E-Ethan *cough* pass m-me th- *cough* the fire e-extinguisher!" I screamed at him. Ethan was on the floor, near the wall. He crawled up next to the bed to get the fire extinguisher. He threw it across the room to me and I catch it. I turned it on and sprayed it all over the room. When the room was completely cleared of smoke and fire. I opened the door so some fresh air could come in and we could breath.

"I'll be right back Ethan, you stay here just in case Kayla comes back" I said turning around to look at him. He nodded and sat on the floor near the wall. I went to the front of the hospital to see if they have seen her. "Hello nurse..have you seen a girl around here? About 5 foot tall, black long hair, has only one dimple, and has marks all over her body?" I said shaking a bit. "I actually saw a group of teenagers running out the door, would you like to check the cameras just in case it was her?" She asked nicely. "Y-yea, if you don't mind?" I said stuttering.

"No not at all, here I'll show you were the cameras are" she said getting up and walking to a door. I followed her in and saw a Police man there and a bunch of cameras in the walls. " officer Clark this man here is trying to see if a girl was walking around here?" She said to the officer. "Is it the girl that I reported about earlier that ran out of her room and to one of the big bathrooms?" He said back to nurse. "Yea that could be her.. What room was she in again before this happen?" She asked me.

"She was in room 503, in the 3rd floor, she was actually a patient..." I trailed off. "Then that must have been the girl you were talking about, because the girl came out of one of the 500 rooms in the 3rd floor" he said checking one of the cameras. "Yes..it must have been her. Here take a look" I got closer to the camera he was looking at and I saw Kayla running out of the room and down the hallway. "That's her" I whispered. "And are those her friends?" The officer said pointing to another camera. I looked at it and saw Kayla telling her friends to follow her. "Yes those are her friends" I said biting the inside of my cheek.

"Then this might be her and them when they were running out of the restroom and to the front of the hospital" the officer said pointing to another camera. I looked at the camera and saw Kayla completely dressed up with her friends running out of the building. "Yes that is her and them..I should get going now.. Thanks officer" I said thanking him and walking out of the door.

I can't believe Kayla left..

~Kayla's POV~

We were in the car driving to Effren's house. I was gazing out the window and thinking of what might happen if Mark finds me and what he will do. I took a deep breath. I was stressed. "Kayla? Is everything okay?" Ethan said grabbing my shoulder. I flinched, I didn't like when people touched me. He moved his hand back and I turned around to answer him. "E-everything's fine" I said turning around quickly and gazing out of the window again. A few minutes passed when the car had stopped.

"We're here!" Miriam screamed. I looked beside me to see that Effren was getting out of the car. I followed behind him and stayed back to say a last goodbye to Miriam. "Thanks again Miriam, I really appreciate for what you have done for me" I said smiling. "No problem Kayla, I will see you later bye" she said while driving off. I waved and turned around to bump into Effren. "S-sorry" I said looking down at my feet. "It's fine Kayla, come on let's go inside" he said while grabbing me by the wrist and pulling me towards his house.

He opened the door and pulled me inside. He took me upstairs to what I think was his room. When we got there I observed his room. It was plain. There wasn't a lot of things in his room. "Sorry for the mess, I really didn't think you were going to stay with me" he said while clearing up his room a bit. "That's fine, my room is kind of messy too..well umm.." I was at the edge of tears, I had just remembered how I tried to kill myself. Effren saw me rubbing my eyes and came over to me and hugged me. "Let it all out Kayla..it's okay.." He said rubbing my back. I was done crying. I moved away from his hug, "I'm not going to cry..I'm done crying" I said looking up at him.

"Are you parents home?" I asked curiously. I walk to his bed and laid on it. "No both of my parents are working" he said going into his closet and grabbing a sweater. "What are you doing?" I asked nervously. "I'm just changing, don't act like you have never seen a boy change before" he smirked. I closed my eyes and turned around so I didn't see him, "n-no I have n-never seen a-a boy c-change" I started heating up. He laughed and closed his closet door, "you can turn around now" he said chuckling. I turned around slowly and removed my hands from my eyes. He still had that stupid smirk on his face. "Stop smirking, you look dumb" I said giggling a bit.

He came up to me and smirked even more. I pushed him out of my way and started laughing. "Is this annoying you Kayla?" He said in a baby voice. I laughed even harder. "You're so immature" I said laughing a bit more. He started laughing too. We sat their laughing for a minute when we heard a knock on the door. "Don't worry Kayla, I'll go check who it is" he said standing up and heading downstairs to the front door. I nodded and hid under his bed just in case Mark was here.

~Effrens POV~
(Didn't see it coming 😂)

I walked downstairs to see who was knocking on the door. When I got there I opened it to see Johnny standing there. "Oh hey Johnny" I said smiling. "Hey Effren..I heard that Kayla was staying with you" he said looking over me to see if Kayla was there. "Yea she's here.. Is something wrong?" I said raising my eyebrow. "Let me talk to her" Johnny said trying to get into the house. "I don't know man, what if she doesn't want to talk to you?" I said letting my shoulders fall. "You've done enough Jonathan... She should just leave" I said while looking at Johnny. He was about to walk out, but when he cached me off guard he came rushing in into the house.

"Kayla! Kayla were are you!" Johnny screamed while looking all over the house. He was running upstairs and I moved my feet and tackled him to the ground. "What the hell Effren get off of me" Johnny struggled under my arms. "No Johnny! Stop being so immature! She doesn't want to see you!" I realized what I had just said and got off of him and ran quickly up the stairs to my room.

Johnny was known for being immature, he always got what he wanted, he always acted like a little kid. When I met him not a lot of people liked him because he was immature. I never thought that about him. We became friends in 6th grade and we've been friends ever since. I ran into my room and closed the door. Kayla was under the bed sleeping. "I have to wake her up" I thought. I walked up to her and shacked her gently. She woke up startled. "It's okay Kayla, it's just me" I said trying to calm her down. "D-don't startle m-me again" she said trying to breath normally. "We have to get out of here!" I said whisper screaming to her. "Huh? I'm confused, why?" She said raising her eyebrow.

"Johnny is here, he wants to talk to you. I told him that you didn't want to talk to him and I got him really mad. We need to leave NOW!" I said whilst yanking her arm and opening the window for us to get out of. When I opened the window completely I jumped out of the room and fell in the damped grass. "Come on, jump down I will catch you" I said while raising my arms to grab her. "But Effren.. I'm afraid of heights.." She said while looking down to the ground. "It's fine Kayla..I will catch you, just hurry up and jump down" I said waving at her to get down.

She looked down once again and closed her eyes before jumping down. She was falling down when I grabbed her. "I got you" I said with a small smile. "T-that was s-scary" she said whilst shaking a tiny bit. I put her down and grabbed her hand. "Come on let's go through the woods they won't find us there" I said grabbing her hand and running into the woods behind my backyard.

I think I like Kayla...
