The next day I woke up to see Alecto.
"DAMMIT!!" I yelled as she grinned evilly. "You seriously thought I was stupid enough to forget about your punishment?"
I replied something real intelligent like: "Well....." She sighed in frustration."Thats you're punishment" she said as she pointed behind me. I turned around and gasped.
It was them.
"M-Mom?" I stuttered.
"WHAT AM I? CHOPPED LIVER?" Liam yelled in protest as Nathan laughed. I laughed and went to hug them, but Alecto interrupted our reunion.
"Not happening. I wanted the original punishment to be you in Tartarus while your family watched, but Lord Hades forbade THAT.."
I gulped nervously.
She giggled. "Instead, you have to read at least 11 books from the Underworld library."
I frowned because: 1) I have dyslexia and ADHD how can I read 1 much less 11 BOOKS?! 2) The Underworld has a library?
Alecto seemed to read my thoughts. "Yes demigod, you have to read 11 ENGLISH books, and the Underworld has a library because it was originally for Lord Hades' daughter, Bianca Di Angelo."
I could sense some biterness in her voice. "W-What happened to her?" I asked quietly. Alecto looked away. "Death." The tension in the room increased. I coughed. Sure, Alecto wasn't my favorite fury, but she seemed pretty sad. I quickly changed the subject to cheer her up.
"Ahem. The punishment?" I started.
Her eyes lit up and she cackled. "Yes. Until you finish reading, no catching up with you're loved ones."NOTE TO SELF: NEVER TRY TO CHEER UP FURIES!!
I sighed. "Where's the library?"
-------------- Time Skip-------------
I gasped. This library was HUGE. Alecto had a kind glint in her eyes. "Less gawking MORE READING!" she said as she flew away. I rolled my eyes. I checked some books. They all looked boring. Then one book caught my eye. "Perry Johnson and the Linguine Thief?" I sighed. Nope that was SO NOT THE TITLE. I looked over my shoulder. Nobody there. I could just sit down and relax here....
NO! BAD ELLA! You're family is out there! WAITING! I mentally scolded myself.
My hands suddenly felt warm. I looked at them and yelped. "AUGH! MY HANDS ARE ON FIRE!" I screamed. I dumped a cup of water on my hand, but the fire didn't go away. In fact it didn't even hurt......
"Oh...Maybe I'm a child of Hephestaus?" I wondered aloud. Wait I could control fire. Maybe I could control books? Or words. Meh. Worth a shot.
I thought of a happy moment. My hands glowed white. I waved my hands over the book.
And absolutely NOTHING HAPPENED.
I tried again. "IF ANY GOD MAY BE MY DAD THEN THE GOD OF WRITING COULD BE MY DAD! THEREFORE I HAVE WRITING WORD THINGS POWER!" I yelled at the air. Suddenly the book glowed. Hecate appeared. "Huh. Took you faster than I expected."
I bowed reluctantly. "Lady Hecate." Suddenly Apollo appeared. "HAND OVER THE 50 DRACHMAS!" he yelled. Hecate sighed and gave him a bag filled with it. I narrowed my eyes. "You made a bet on me!?" I asked. "Yup" Apollo said popping the P.
Hecate scowled. "Child, you have just begun your progress in manipulation of magic." I raised an eyebrow, and she sighed."It's like making a loophole in magic. Like how Dionysus cannot pour himself wine because of Zeus. Get someone to pour it for him and he'll be drunk, you'll regret doing it, and Zeus will have NO IDEA. Loopholes. Quite fun."
I nodded. "Wait does Mr. D know about the loophole?"
Hecate shuddered. "HEAVENS NO." I laughed. "Now go on and read that book. It might just teach you about our world." and with that she dissapeared. I turned around and picked up the book.Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief
