Ella uneasily told Solangelo- Nico and Will, what happened with the fates, and the possible insanity or broken soul that the fates mentioned the four would have. One of which was Apollo.
At the end of that convo Will started expressing his concern. "I'm confused. Dad is not depressed. Depressing at times when you hear stories about him and his dad drama sure, but NOT depressed. I'm leaning towards him being crazy."
Ella sighed at that. To be honest she was leaning towards Apollo being crazy too but that would make this quest a little bit harder.
While Ella and Will were discussing Apollo, Percy was making sure Mico was okay after the Hazel thing.
"You okay Neeks?"
"Don't call me Neeks."
"You didn't answer the question." Oercy observed.
Nico sighed. " I'm just glad Hazel is alright..."
Percy smiled at him in reassurance. "Yeah. Me too."
Ella led them back to the Elevator in the Empire state building. "Let's go. And we don't have to try every floor again. I know Apollo's floor nimber."
"What is it?" Percy asked. Ella pushed in the button as she replied. "Floor 214. Because Artemis has floor 213 and Jermes got 215. He wanted to br close to them. themThat way, if a prank war started, then he could send pranks up and down. Unless Hermes and Artemis teamed up. Then he was screwed."
Will nodded. "Sounds like dad."
Percy laughed at that. "Let's go then."
And the elavatot door opened and it looked so..
Dark and dreary and... So much black.
Nico turned to Will. "I'm leaning towards depressed or broken right now. You?"
Will glared at him before turning to Ella. "Are you sure this is..?"
Ella snorted. "Duh. He made it all dark so intruders could think they were in Hades' place and get the heck out. The secret door to his real room is here somewhere.."
Percy stared. "That's acctuallt a smart idea.." Nico glared at him. "Don't you dare do it with our cabins." Percy looked up innocently. "I would NEVER..." Ella joined in. "Can't we? It would be funnnn!" Nico glared. "No."
"AWWW!"
Will ignored them. "Hey Ella. Were is the secret door?" he asked as he inspected a window. Before she could answer, Will opened the window and climbed through only to end up back in the room somehow. "Woah.."
Ella grinned. "Thats not the secret door. This is!" And she handed him a paintbrush dipped in gold paint.
They all stared at her. Will looked at her strangely. "Um.. Ella what the heck am I supposed to do with this??"
Ella rolled her eyes. "You paint a door with it. Duh." And with that she grabbed the paintbrush and painted a door in the air. The gold paint solidified and Ella opened it. "After you." she said casually. They gawked at her. "Fine I'll go first." and Ella walked through. They scrambled to follow her.
"Woah" Nico breathed out.
Apollo's floor was actually really.. Homey.
Beige walls, brown leather sofas. A simple TV. 2 full bookshelves. A kitchen nearby with granite countertops and cabinets filled with junk food. windows were on bare walls, all showing different sunsets all around the world.
"Woah indeed." Will smiled.
Ella walked to the hallway. "Lets find Apollo's room." Percy frowned. "You don't know which one is his room?" he asked suprised. Ella shook her head. "Apollo made sure all the rooms except the living room and kitchen-" she gestured around them. "- would switch places. For the element of annoyance to intruders, I guess."
Nico sighed. "Well he succeded. What room is this?" he asked as he swung open a metal door. Ella peered inside. "It's the security room. Has alarms ig monsters ot unknown mortals break in. High tech."
Percy tried another door. "Is this his room?" It was a beige room with a bed and mini fridge. Ella shook er head. "Guest room."
After trying a binch of other doors (arcade room, prank zone, training room- {"Why is there a training room?" Will demanded. Ella couldn't think of an answer}- movie room, and an entrance to the Underworld library. {Ella quickly shut the door}
Finally they opened a door that led to another hallway. "YES!" Ella shouted. "This hallways door leads to his room." The rest were grateful. Who knew openeing doors could be so tiring?
Ella quietly opened the door. It was Apollo's room.
His room was bate of anything. Just a plain room. And there was a humongous window-an open one- where the bed was. And out the window was a porch and a beutiful sun rise. And on the bed lay said immortal, Apollo, sleeping peacefully, golden curls cascading on his face.
Ella closed the door, not wanting to disturb him. They looked at each other. Now what? Will broke the silence with a random question. "Where was that sun rise?" Will answered. "Japan. AKA the land of the rising sun. Dad loves that place.. It's where he got his whacky haiku obsession." Ella laughed a bit at that.
Percy bit his lip asking the unsaid question. "Now what? We don't have time for this and how do we know that Apollo will answer our questions? We need to know the whole story about the sun, love, death, and air. And it does seem like Apollo knows a lot.."
Ella caught on to what he was saying. She grimly pulled out the dreamcatcher. "We need to see his memeories..." She opened the door again and looked at Apollo. She sighed and the dreamcatcher started to glow pure white light. "Show us Apollo's memories. The ones we need to know." she whispered. The dreamcatcher emitted a stronger light
A dark mist came from Apollo's forehead to the dreamcatcher. If you squinted, you could see flashes of memories. memoriesElla sighed as the mist filled the air. She walked over to the others.
Will looked shocked. "No! We could just ask dad he could just tell us!" he protested feebly. Ella shook her head. "Lying is every Olympian's strong suit. We dont have time for lies."
Will stood his ground. "No. I checked some of the books in the library. There is one section filled with Dad's accounts of the olden times and the present. You know why he wrote that? So if what we believed changed them, then at least he would remember who they once were!"
Ella looked at Will. "I know. But this isn't for me. This is for Apollo! To understand him and help him in whatever he's going through! I will not loose any more family because of my cowardice or unwillingness to understand that sometimes a dark begining makes an even brighter light in the end!Do you understand?" Ella lashed out, eyes a very dark shade of brown.
Will stayed silent.
"SOLACE! Do you UNDERSTAND!" she growled.
Will looked up, a stray tear on his face. Nico wbrushed it away with his hand as Percy placed a hand on Ella's shoulder. She looked away ashamed that she lashed out on her friends- soon addition to her family.
"For Apollo?" Will said quietly.
Ella smiled a little and said in a firm voice.
"For Apollo."
And the room filled up with dark mist, just about to show them answers to sectets hidden deep within some immortals' mind.
But for now that didn't matter. Not as long as they were friends- No, something stronger....family.
And they all held hands as they got sucked up in memories.
But in the end, what they said was true. Sometimes a dark beginning was necessary for an innocent end.
And in the end this was...
For Apollo.
