"Oh memories, where'd you go? You're all
I've ever known. How I missed yesterday
And how I let it fade away."
- Memories by Pan!c at the DiscoYou'd had no warning, no hint at what could possibly happen. You should of just known.
It wasn't as he'd forgotten you, last Christmas you were both two peas in a pod. You'd laughed at your inside jokes and made references that no one else had understood - you were inseparable. But then his accident had happened.
You brought your knees up to your chest, your eyes fixed upon a random spot in the distance.
"(Your name), your tea is getting cold." Sherlock remarked from where he was seated on the chair across from you.
You didn't respond, the look in his eyes plagued your mind. It was as if he didn't even know you.
"Quite the waste in my opinion." He looked up from his book, a slight concern laced in his voice.
He'd been so quiet, like your very being there annoyed you.
"We paid good money for that tea." The concern was growing.
"Will you shut up about the damn tea?" You snapped, Sherlock looked at you wide eyes. You instantly felt guilt clench your heart, "I'm sorry." You whispered.
"He's in therapy (Your Name)." Sherlock tried to assure you.
"He wasn't himself." Was all you said, burying your face in your knees.
You heard the creak of the chair, shortly after the couch sunk in beside you as the memories flashed before your eyes.
You walked down the London street briskly, the coffee warming your chilled fingertips. Your phone buzzed in your coat pocket, you slipped your hand into your pocket to see a call from your mom. Raising an eyebrow you accepted the call and placed the phone to your ear. "Hello?"
"Ben had an accident."
You felt dread instantly form in the pit of your stomach, "what happened?"
"He was climbing a ladder repairing some wires, he fell thirty feet and fractured his skull."
You felt yourself instantly stop, people pushed past you, mourning about what an inconvenience your pause was.
"He's in the hospital now I- oh there's the Doctor now. I'll talk to you later sweetheart, goodbye."
The line went dead and you felt your heart thump, you hadn't talked to him in little less then a month and now you felt extremely guilty.
Your family lived back in America, and with Mycroft out of the country you couldn't swing a flight home. So you were forced to stay back with Sherlock, after several weeks of worrying sick you'd finally flown back for his wife's baby shower.
He was so different.
You should've expected it, an event like that must of severely affected his mental state.
You allowed yourself to fall into Sherlock, he awkwardly wrapped his arm around you. "It'a going to be fine.... darling." The word seemed foreign in his mouth but you liked the way he sounded."It will as long as I have you here with me."
A/N
So this is based on real life events, the only difference is that my cousin is in his late twenties and I'm in my early teens and we both live in America. And I have no Sherlock.
Please comment requests on my request page and if you already have please tag me in it, I'm going through it this week.
