Chapter Eight

I walk into school and everybody is just telling me "Happy Birthday" "Your party was fun" "Yeen have to do Sky like dat", I said what I had to say to them and went on about my day.

I got to 2nd period and Skylar was beat up, and it wasn't from Ominee and Ka'Liyah. She had a collar around her neck with bruises everywhere.

"Runnn," Skylar said pointing at me.

I was scared to death. They had to remove Skylar from class cause she was bad.

A couple minutes into class after Skylar had left I had gotten called up to the office. I hate to have to deal with Principal Decora, and she hated to be dealing with me to.

"So Nevaeh Coleman I need you to explain why three weeks ago you missed school for a whole week." Principal Decora said.

I looked up to think about should I tell the truth or should I not.

"We know half of what happened already Ms.Coleman. Your mom had a police search for you. I need to hear your side of the story," she said interrupting my thoughts.

"Welll I had been kidnapped and returned," I said.

"Why was Skylar hurt and not you." She asked.

"I don't know. She got involved in something but two guys had helped Keith and I get free."

"Well I need to know what Skylar got involved in."

"I don't know what she got involved in. You need to talk to her mother cause she has been trying to come for me every since yesterday."

"Which was your birthday," She said.

"Yea. I had a party and she showed up and things got messy."

"Well im going to send you home for a few days to let things settle."

"Ight," I said. "For how long."

"We're going to have you stay at home and work for about two months sending work for you then you could come back. We're doing the same thing for Keith cause we have many reasons that you two are putting the school in danger."

"Whatt, danger?" I said.

"Who are The Men and why are they after you two," She whispered.

"Uh-uh there aint no men after us, they after Skylar why you think they keep findin her and beatin her."

"Well we will be sending you home for your safety. You'll be back in school next month. Be lucky," Principal Decora said as she walked away.

I got home and had to explain everything to my mom. And im just going to go ahead and tell her.

"Mama I was so stressed from all of it... Me and Keith got a lil too excited had sex and n-now im pregnant," I said.

"Slow down a lil bit I don't think I heard that cleary," she said.

"Mama im pregnant," I said breathing heavily.

"Getcho lil grown ass in here."

"Mama nooo."

"You wasn't screamin Mama noo while yo ass was fuckin," she said.

"Mama im pregnant."

"You better be lucky I want my grandchild. I'll knock yo ass straight out." she said as she sat down with the belt in her hand. "Now call that boy Keith over here."

"Yes ma'am Keith," Keith said as he came in.

~POP!~

My mama went to whoopin Keith with the belt.

"You done got my baby kidnapped now you got her pregnant!"

"Mama mama im sorry," Keith said. "We was just going through somethin."

"Well now im the one who gone be taking care of a damn baby."

"Well im the one having it not you," I said.

"You livin in my house! Now get yall ass over here and sit down." "Who in the hell is The Men."

"The head of the Black-P Stones. The gang Keith was in." I said.

"Well why they keep coming for you."

"I don't know Ma. Maybe because of Brent and Black," Keith said.

"Who the hell is Brent and Black."

"Imma call them over. They been protecting us from The Men." I said

...

"I thought I told yall to stay low," Brent said as he walked in the door. "Calling my phone ain't stayin low they got me tracked."

"Well throw the phone out," I said.

"Who's this fine woman," Black said.

"My mama now sit down she married." I said.

"Nevaeh I can speak for myself. I was married until my husband Nevaeh's father died."

"Ok ok on with this. What's up with yall and The Men they keep comin for us."

"Well I been tryna get them killed. I been runnin from they men and Skylar Nicki whatever her name is keep selling yall out."

"Why she selling us out for?" Keith said.

"She been working against you with The Men every since you and Keith got together."

"Well they done drugged her up or something. She came to school with a collar and bruises round her neck."

"They tried to rape you Nevaeh. They probably have been raping her." Brent said.

"I hope they don't find out that Keith and I being held from school for a month. They were gone give us two."

"For what," Brent said.

"Skylar told them we putting the school in danger cause The Men threaten to come shoot the school up."

"Well we just gone have to move in to protect you." Black said.

"No no no no," my mom said.

"Ms.Coleman may I ask what's your name." Black said.

"Tameka."

"We could also be protecting you to. You are the mother of Nevaeh. They'll come for everything they love." Black said.

"We will need for your brother and father to move in too Keith."

"Alright."
