Y/n's Pov

   I stretched as I got up off the hard concrete roof. A rare smile appeared when I saw Rei curled up in a ball next to me. Her hair was in the ponytail I make her keep it in. My instant reaction was to jump up and look over the edges of the roof.

We were currently camping up on the roof of a bookstore since the roof was flat and high up. There were a few of the dead limping around on the street. I woke up Rei and told her to stay out of sight but watch. She nodded while rubbing her eye.

The way I got down was by sliding down the fire exit ladder. When I got down I twirled the bat in my hand. I walked out into the street and whistled. 20 of them turned towards me and I smirked. My movements were quick, I spun, dodged, ran and swung. Every one of them were down and I smiled, but that faded.

Rei caught my glance. There was a painted green horse on an alley wall. We were in their territory. Her eyes widened and she instantly rushed to get our stuff packed. There were some people shouting. It was definitely them.

  I raced up the ladder and grabbed her hand as she put the backpack on. "Rei we need to go. I won't let them catch us. Got it?"   "Mmhm!" We ran quickly and jumped over the ledge leading towards another territory. Mid-jump, she swung onto my back.

This was our routine when we were in their territory. I ran faster than her, defended her. It wasn't in vain though. When I was fighting the dead, she would search the store, or pack up from our camp. 

Her grip on me tightened as  we got to the gas station at the end. "Rei, get ready."  "Yea ok.."  I jumped down and set her down. There were undead in the streets, and probably in the store too. My hand twirled the bat as she picked the lock, a skill I taught her. "3 bangs ready Y/n?"  "Yea." 

As I killed the undead that got near one by one, she pulled a pencil out of her pocket and tapped the nearest metal shelf three times. After 20 seconds, no reaction. She ran in and started to pack what she could find. I fell back and they just kept coming. 

It took her 26 seconds and she came up to me and tugged my sleeve. "Rei do me a favor and check the back door. Hurry!"   She nodded and ran, her ponytail flew behind her. "Y/n! It's clear! And there is a ladder to the roof!"  "Climb it!"  I swung at the one that got past me and 360 spun to hit another.

I muttered under my breathe. "Shit there are to many.. Please tell me she got water too..."   The second she told me she was up, I darted back towards the exit. One of the dead blocked my way. I slid under it and kept running, then jumped so that I could grab the ladder...but..

"Y/n!" "Wha-" I was cut off when one of them grabbed my arm and yanked me down so i was sitting down. A lot of them piled out of the door and ran to me. The only thing I could do was... 

My eyes met Rei's, hers were panicked and then I realized. I would be leaving her in this world alone. We know her parents are dead, we saw proof. I'm all she has..  My pistol that was under me was in my hands. 6 shots went off. That was my entire clip. "Rei! Stay there!" I took off running out of the alleyway.

 When I turned around, my eyes narrowed at the way they were slower because the sun was out. "Rei toss me my ice pick."  "Here!" She threw it and I easily caught it. I ran as soon as it was in my hand and jumped, lodging the pick in between the bricks in the wall, again then I pulled myself up.

If you have ever watched/played The Walking Dead Season One. It is the same Ice-pick Molly has.

Rei hugged me. "Y/n! Y/n! You're ok!" "Of course I am pipsqueak. Wait you doubted me?" Her face turned a little red. "N-No..."  "Hahahaha liar."  "Ok yea-"  I heard footsteps, but not the dead's footsteps. I grabbed her mouth, which is what cut her off, and pulled her down so we were hidden. 

"Marlo, check that store, didn't you hear the scream? I believe we have an intruder."   "Yes sir!"  "Rei....get the cloaks."  (Like the survey's green cloaks except black and no symbol.) She handed me mine and I waited until the footsteps were heard in the store. The moment they faded, I grabbed her hand and took off running to our destination. Their footsteps ran towards us. "It's them again!"

Her grip on my hand tugged and I glanced back at her. She pointed towards a bike store and I nodded. We ran towards it and I got inside quickly. "Rei start raiding!" She ran and grabbed a bunch of stuff. I smiled as I opened another door to reveal a black Humvee. 

She walked up to a Yamaha YZF and I pushed it the the Humvee and tossed it into the back, it was heavy. "Y/n! They are here!"  As she said that, I saw the door open. I ran and punched the garage-like door button, and jumped into the Humvee. She buckled up as one of them grabbed the handle.

I pulled the break back and turned the key. The door flew open, in an instant, my handgun was pointed at his forehead. I smiled as he froze and I shot. Rei shivered as I pressed the gas. "Y/n.."  "Hm?"  We drove out of their territory. Back into our territory, as we call it.  

"I'm covered in that guys blood now."  I glanced over and saw her white shirt had a lot of blood on it. Then I sighed. "Well it's also getting late so we will camp on one of the roofs." Her silence was eerie..

I backed into an alley that fit the Humvee and held her up so that she could climb the roof, which she did, and I got up after her. We sat looking at each other as I grabbed the bag. I looked at the bag and grabbed another white shirt that fit her and she slid her, now bloody, shirt off. "Here."  "Thank you Y/n!"
