Selena's P.O.V.
This is the last thing I expected. To be leaving New York tonight. Of all places to go, of course, Charlie had to choose somewhere in California. The last place I want to go is back to California, especially after everything that happened. It's all so sudden and too soon. I still haven't fully processed everything that happened in California. Although we're not going to Yosemite, being in the same state is going to bring back all of those memories.
It's the mid afternoon and Forrest went back to his apartment to start packing for our flight tonight. He's already anxious about the flight. He's just glad that I'm going to be there with him. When I auditioned for this role, I was only expecting to be gone for six months. But here's another two additional months for prep for the show. Of course, I expected there to be months of rehearsal in advance, but I expected them to take place here in New York and after The Key To Dance's Nutcracker performance.
Charlie is aware how important the Nutcracker performance is at the studio. Especially at a time like this where Miss B is going to be away for the first time. Miss B needs her best dancers there and Charlie took a good number of them for his show. I don't know if this was intended vengeance, but it sure does appear to be.
I fold one of my leotards into my dance bag as I complain, "How can Charlie just pull us all away so quickly? How did your mom agree to this so easily?" After I finish folding, I look over at Justin. He's helping me pack by taking his sweet sweet time and I don't blame him. We both weren't expecting for me to leave tonight. In fact, we were anticipating for this to happen a few months from now.
Justin shrugs, "I don't know babe. My mom just wants what's best for her dancers. I know the teachers at the studio can handle the choreography. Plus, I'll be there to make sure that everything runs over smoothly."
He's barely holding a smile at the end because he knows that we are about to be separated. Justin hands me some clothes to pile into my suitcase. I smile at him while taking my clothes from his hand. Our fingers touch and we both pause. Lost in each other's eyes, we embrace the moment.
My other hand grabs my clothes and tosses them behind me. Justin pulls me close so we're chest to chest. With one hand still with his, my other holds the back as his head as I crash my lips onto his. He kisses me passionately, each one becoming more meaningful than the last.
"I wish you didn't have to leave tonight," he heavily breathes between our kisses.
I pause our kissing to say, "Just tell me to stay then."
That's when he stops kissing me. I close my eyes because I know it was the wrong thing to say. Justin already feels like he's stopping me from pursuing my dream. I don't want to inflict any more guilt on him. Reluctantly, I open my eyes. His eyes are trapped in mine and they're begging me to stay, but he knows better than to request this.
He sighs, "You know that you can't Selena. You need to go dance as Odette."
I remind, "I also need to be your girlfriend."
Justin softly kisses my cheek then tells, "No matter how far you go, you're always going to be my girlfriend."
Then I laugh, "Maybe not always."
He chuckles, "Is there something that you're not telling me?"
I giggle, "Shut up." We then kiss again. We continue to kiss until I force myself to continue packing because mine and Forrest's flight is leaving in four hours.
Taylor's P.O.V.
Sitting on Forrest's bed, I watch while he and Resa are packing their bags. When we came to Little Cramp's door, Forrest warned me that it was going to be awkward in here, which is what I expected. After all, Resa and I are both Forrest's exes. It's inevitable for this room to be filled with awkward air. Currently, it's so awkward in here that I'm sure it's overflowing into all the other rooms of the apartment building.
