Selena's P.O.V.
"Take a twenty-minute break, everyone!" Charlie announces to the cast.
Forrest and I dash to the dressing room, desperate for our phones. We both reach into our dance bags and once we see the screens of our phones we both sigh. Absolutely no notifications.
It's scaring me how Justin hasn't texted me once in the past few days. Sure, I've left him a bit in the dark because of all the prep for the show, but he's completely understandable of my dance situation. He wouldn't be giving me the cold shoulder all of a sudden. Unless he thinks that he's distracting me and he doesn't want to serve as one just before my show. Only, it's more distracting that he hasn't said a word to me.
I've texted him multiple time and even called. The same thing is going on with Forrest and Taylor. We're both concerned about what's going on with them. Could something have happened with Clay? Surely they would have contacted us if something serious happened. Maybe their phones died? Or there's a power outage all throughout New York?
"I don't understand why they have been so silent these past few days," Forrest drops his phone back into his dance bag.
I shrug, "I guess that they're just really busy."
Forrest is in denial. There's no way that Taylor or Justin would be too busy to take ten minutes out of their day to talk to us during our break. He then takes his phone out of his dance bag and decides to call Taylor. It immediately goes to voice mail. He signals for me to call Justin. I receive the same response as Forrest, instant voicemail.
"Try calling Fitch or Aria," he suggests.
Forrest is brilliant. Why hadn't I thought of calling them earlier? We are completely justified to ask them about Taylor and Justin's whereabouts. We're terrified something bad has happened to them. It's easier to assume something has happened to them rather than to assume that they are ignoring us.
Through my contacts, I scroll until I hit Tampon Hero. Once I do, I call him. By the fourth ring, I'm relieved that he actually picks up.
"Fitch! Finally, I got a hold of someone out in New York! Have you seen or talked to Justin and Taylor? I haven't heard from either of them for a few days. I'm just really worried about them," I over explain into the phone.
Suddenly, I hear Fitch in a muffled voice apologizing. Next thing I know, he hangs up. Again, I call him to only hit voice mail.
I don't know what's going on in New York right now, but there's definitely something happening out there. I complain, while angrily tossing my phone into my dance bag, "He hung up on me!"
Just so conveniently, Resa happens to be walking by. She hears my complaint and isn't too surprised by it. She snarks, "You shouldn't be so surprised. I mean I don't know how Justin deals with it. I can barely withstand hearing your voice."
I roll my eyes. It's unbelievable how Charlie is allowing her to remain in the production. Resa landed her acting job, meaning she would only be able to do half the shows. Apparently, she had to work out a huge deal with the company in charge of the gig. Somehow she managed to talk them into doing it in the next three months.
However, it is a win-win situation for the both of us. Resa gets to be the actress that she's always wanted to be and I only have to deal with her for half the shows for Swan Lake. Already Resa's understudy has been working on the role. I can say whatever I want about Resa, but I can't call her a horrible dancer. I mean, the understudy is good, but she won't bring as much justice to the role as Resa.
"That wasn't Justin on the phone," I argue while folding my arms.
She states, "Well, whoever that was on the phone, bless their soul for listening to you for that long." Resa then pats me on the shoulder and proceeds over to her section of the dressing room. Not wanting to argue with her any longer, I direct all of my attention over to Forrest.
