Taylor's P.O.V.

Miss B left to the cafeteria two minutes ago to get us all food. We had skipped out on lunch earlier and our breakfast was super light. Forrest offered to go, but Miss B needed a moment away from Clay. Forrest is holding my hand tightly as I just stare at Clay, hoping that he will wake up any moment. I'm not sure how long a coma can last but it feels like it has been decades. I look over to Forrest with watery eyes.

"Do you think that you can give me and Clay a minute?" I request. He hesitantly nods then allows me space. Before he leaves, Forrest tells me that he will be right outside the door if I need anything. Once Forrest is out of the room, I take Clay's hand and watch his heart monitor. If I continue to stare at him, I'm only going to lose more hope.

The squiggle is continuous and the monotonous sound is the only sound that has been familiar to me for days. While we all sit in Clay's room we do not say a word. If we do it's very minimal. Clay's closed eyelids have become so familiar to me that I've almost forgotten his tinted green eyes. His hand is so cold in mine. I keep hoping that his hand will grip mine.

Staring at his eyelids, I express, "Clay, I know that you're in there somewhere and I know you want to die...but you're still here for a reason. I'm right here Clay...you can wake up." I'm begging by the end. This needs to be like the movies. Clay has to make it through his coma. This can't be the end for him, no matter how badly he wanted it.

The door bursts open and Forrest is attempting to pull the doctor back while frantically saying, "You can't go in there! Taylor needs some alone time with Clay!"

I release Clay's hand and insist, "Forrest it's okay. If the doctor needs to see him that's much more important." He lets go of the doctor's wrist. In the midst of his apology to her, I receive a phone call from Young Town. This is the first I have heard from Clay's bloodline ever since the accident. Im hoping that Clay's dad is using Young Town's phone, but I find a fat chance at that since those two hardly spend any time with one another. I excuse myself and rush out of Clay's room to take Young Town's call.

"Young Town, boy am I relieved to finally hear from you," I tell as I walk out of the door.

Forrest is following right behind me like a lost puppy as he curiously questions, "Who's Young Town?"

Ignoring Forrest's question, which I feel excessively bad for, I stay in tune with my conversation with Young Town. He's apologizing over and over for not taking me numerous calls. This does not allow me talk and explain to him why I have called him a thousand times since Clay's accident.

"Young Town, Young Town, calm down ! It's alright. I'm just glad to finally hear from you," I assure.

He apologizes then asks, "Okay, again, I'm sorry. My phone was dead and I had to scrape up some money to buy a new charger. So what's up?"

Just as he asks this, the door to Clay's room eagerly opens as the doctor cheers, "He's awake!"

Immediately, I drop my phone and let it crash to the ground. My face fills with awe. Clay is awake! He's actually awake! Forrest picks my phone up from the floor and says stunned, "Young Town, she's going to have to call you back."

His bright green eyes are absorbing every detail of the room. My, oh my, how I missed them so much. Clay can't believe that he survived. He's foggy on the details and he's begging me to fill him in on everything. Before I have the chance to answer his questions, his doctor comes in again and wants to do some testing on him.

Clay agrees to, but not until he asks me two questions. His doctor is against the idea, but Clay easily convinces her into it. Forest leaves the room as well with the doctor. We only have five minutes, which Clay insists is all he needs. Now, I'm beyond curious of what he's going to ask me. I know he's going to want detailed answers and five minutes isn't going to allow him his desired answers.
