Lauren sat on her bed, staring at the two dresses her mother held up for her.
"Pick one already. The Cabellos will be here shortly," Clara said.
Lauren sighed. "The green one."
Clara handed her the dress. "Alright, honey... get dressed. Your father and I will be waiting in the dining room."
Lauren nodded and stood up. When her mom left the room, she began getting changed.
In less than 30 minutes, she was ready to meet her future wife.
Lauren made her way to the dining room. As she grew closer, voices grew nearer. She stopped at the two big doors that led to the room and took a deep breath before entering.
She saw her parents, her siblings, Chris and Taylor, sitting on one side of the table, and on the other side sat the Cabello family on the other side. There was an older man and woman, Lauren assumed to be the King and Queen, a younger girl, and then an older girl. Lauren's eyes stopped on the older girl.
She was extremely beautiful.
"Lauren! Come here and meet King Alejandro and his family!" Her mother ordered.
Lauren nodded and swiftly made her way to the table, taking a seat beside Chris.
"Your future wife is hot," he whispered to Lauren, causing her to glare at him.
He ignored it. "So Lauren. Tell us about yourself," Alejandro said.
"Uh... well... I'm 20 years old... I like music. I like reading and drawing... uh..." Lauren couldn't think of anything else to say.
"Ooh! Camila can play guitar! Right, sweetie?" Hee mother said, addressing Camila.
"Uh... yeah. I can," Camila said quietly.
I nodded. "Cool."
An hour later, we had all went out to the garden for a night time stroll. Camila and I hadn't been speaking most of the night. Just simple and awkward questions and even more simple and awkward answers.
"You should give Camila a tour of the castle. Get to know each other better," Mike whispered to Lauren.
Lauren nodded. "Uh... Camila?"
Camila looked at Lauren. "Yes?"
"Would you like to walk around the castle? I'm sure you're as bored as I am listening to our parents talk about boring stuff," she said awkwardly.
Camila smiled. "Sure."
The two girls walked back to the castle.
"So, Lauren... what's your opinion on this... marriage thing?" Camila asked once they got inside.
Lauren shrugged. "It's alright, I guess... i mean, if it helps to end the stupid feud between our families, then I can deal with it."
Camila nodded. "Yeah, same."
"So, Camila, how old are you?"
"19," she said.
"So what kind of movies do you like?" Lauren asked.
"Anything that isn't scary."
Lauren laughed. "What? I love scary movies! The rush you get when you know somethibg is about to happen... it's great."
Camila raised an eyebrow. "I prefer laughing instead of screaming, thank you."
Lauren smiled. She was beginning to actually kind of like Camila. Maybe this marriage thing will turn out alright. She was worried Camila would be stuck up and rude and stuff, but that wasn't the case at all.
"So what's your favorite color?" Camila asked.
"Green. Yours?"
"Yellow."
Lauren nodded. "Cool. Uh... favorite number?"
"7. What about you?"
"8." Lauren said with a smile.
Camila tilted her head. "What is your opinion on cats?"
Lauren laughed. "Cats? Well... they're alright, I guess. I'm more of a dog person to be honest..."
Camila smiled. "Dogs are okay. But cats are better."
"Whatever helps you sleep at night, Cabello," Lauren said.
The two girls stopped in front of a door.
"Wanna see my favorite place in the entire castle?" Lauren asked.
Camila smiled and nodded. "Okay."
Lauren opened the door, and walked in, Camila following close behind.
"Welcome to my library," Lauren said happily.
Camila's jaw dropped. "Woah... there's... so many books... Lauren, your library is bigger than half my castle!"
Lauren laughed. "Well, I love to read, so yeah..."
Camila slowly walked along a shelf of books. "There's so many of them... how many of these have you read?"
"Would you believe it if I said all of them?"
Camila spun around to face Lauren. "All of them? Seriously?"
Lauren nodded and laughed.
"Wow..."
"I have a lot of free time," said the older girl, shrugging.
Camila was amazed. There had to be thousands... no, millions of books, and Lauren has read all of them? That's amazing.
"Lauren? You in here? One of the butlers said you were in... oh."
Camila turned to see a girl. A very beautiful girl, by the way.
"Lucy? Hey! What are you doing here? I thought you were in Brazil!" Lauren said, walking up to her and hugging her.
"Yeah, I just got back," she turned to Camila. "Hi. I'm Lucy. One of Lauren's best friends."
Camila nodded and gave her a small smile.
"I heard y'all were gonna get married so I came to see how you are doing," Lucy said to Lauren.
"I'm good, actually," Lauren said, smiling at Camila.
"That's good. Well, I gotta be on my way. I still need to see Dinah," Lucy said, hugging Lauren again.
"Alright. I'll see ya later."
"Bye, Laur," Lucy said.
"Bye."
Lucy then left, and Lauren turned her attention to Camila once again. "Well, you've officially just met one of my best friends."
Camila nodded and smiled.
"So... do you wanna go watch a movie?" Lauren asked.
Camila's smile widened. "Yeah, okay!"
Lauren laughed at her enthusiasm and the girls went down to the theater.
"Can we please watch a horror movie?" Lauren begged.
Camila frowned.
"I'll protect you," Lauren added, causing Camila to smile.
"Alright, I guess so. But you better protect me or we're gonna have problems, okay?" Camila said, and Lauren laughed.
"Alright. I promise. Soooo.... how about we watch Sinister?"
Camila frowned. "That sounds scary.... ugh. Okay."
The two girls then sat quietly as the movie began.
