Title credit: Of Mice & Men
Beep! Beep! Beep!
"Ugh" I mumble as I shut my alarm off and shift around in bed. It's currently 5:45 and I have to get the bus at 6:30. It's pathetic actually, I have my license and it's my senior year and I'm stuck riding the bus. Why you may ask? Maybe if my brother Matt didn't wreck my car I'd be driving it, and mom won't let me borrow her car. It should be out of the shop within 2 weeks and I can't wait. I groan and get out of bed, turning on my flat iron then claiming the bathroom before Matt does.
Matt and I are complete opposites. He's outgoing, popular, somewhat smart, plays just about any sport, wears American Eagle, Holister and what ever else he wears. He's only 16. And girls gawk over him all the time, even my friends think he's cute. I try my best to ignore him most of the time. He's only a junior.
Me on the other hand, I keep to myself, no sports, not popular, but I'm smart. Not freaky genius smart, but all of my classes are college preparation and my GPA is at a 3.5, that's good enough to get into majority of colleges. The only school activity I'm in is choir, since I'm so interested in music. Oh that's another thing, I'm completely obsessed with bands and own more band merch than anything. Also boys don't really take an interest in me, to them I'm like a sack of potatoes. Surprisingly Matt doesn't disown me from being his sister or avoids me in school. One time I overheard his jock friend Anthony call me a freak and he completely flipped out, I guess he isn't too bad of a little brother.
I brush my teeth, wash my face and use the restroom. I brush out my hair and look at my golden brown eyes in the mirror and my tanish skin. Since it's winter I lose my tan and turn pale, I can't wait for summer to return. I head back into my room. I run the straightener through my hair until it is silky and straight as a pin.
"Hmm what to wear." I ask myself looking through my clothes. Before picking out an outfit I check the weather, it's only 38° outside, that isn't too bad for February in New York. I open my chest of drawers to get out a shirt. I grab the first one off the top and it's an All Time Low shirt. I throw it on and reminisce about last night, wishing that I could have talked to them longer than what we did. I scroll through my twitter (my normal routine for procrastination in the morning) and look at everyones tweets, occasionally favoriting and retweeting, I decide to compose one.
@Cece182: So glad that high school is almost over and I can go off to college.
I throw my phone on my bed and pick up my Of Mice & Men hoodie and put it on as well, followed by a pair of coal black leggings. I apply foundation followed by a base on my eyes, then a light smokey eye with winged eye liner. That is followed up by a couple flicks of mascara to my top and bottom lids. Somewhat pleased with my appearance, I head down stairs to eat something. I pass by Matt as he was coming out of the shower and he gives me a smile then runs into his room, someone woke up late; again, no shocker there. I walk into the kitchen and grab a granola bar and a bottle of orange juice, watching whatever my dad is watching on tv.
"Matthew! It's 6:15! You have 10 minutes!" My mom calls up the stairs at him. We all wake up around the same time because my father is a lawyer and my mother is a pediatrician and work from 7:30 to 6:00, they always make sure we aren't late for school.
Since we live in a suburb neighborhood out of New York City, our bus stop is down the street a ways where all the other kids catch it. I slip on a pair of boots, heaving my book bag on my back with my phone in hand, waiting on Matt at the door. Suddenly he comes sprinting down the stairs flinging on his varsity jacket in the process and putting his stylish Jordan shoes on. I don't understand the big fuss over them.
"Let's go." I say opening the door.
"Have a good day! love you!" Our parents yell at us.
"Love you too!" we call back and head to the bus stop. As we wait for the bus stop, I plug my headphones in and listen to some music. The bus pulls up a few minutes later, and we all pile into the cheese wagon. Mondays are the worst.
