Bianca Davenport had spent the whole Sunday in the library reading all sorts of fiction books except vampire stories. Vampires were overrated. It got to her nerves every single time the girls talked about Twilight, Vampire Diaries or anything close. Basically anything popular got to her nerves.
Unfortunately, the library was only open until 7 in the evening. Everyone had to be in their respective dinner halls by 7:30. She placed the last book she've read back on the shelf and headed out.
The hallways were dimly lit. On weekdays, it was brighter. But there was no reason for anyone to be roaming in the school grounds at this time, on a Sunday. We walked quietly to the Rose Dormitory, with her chin up and perfect posture. The cool evening wind reminded her how much she loved being alone. Tonight, she could miss the dinner and spend a lot of quality time with herself, alone in her room.
She opened the door, shocked to find the lights open. Her jaws dropped slightly. She instantly spotted the lump on the other bed which used to be empty. Blueberries! The next thing she saw was the black luggage that looked manly to her. I wonder what kind of girl this is... hope she's not a lesbian....
She hoped it was a girl. A normal girl who won't bother her. To have a lesbian roommate was horrible. She never had one, but the ones in her class made her puke. Of course the teachers turned a blind eye to those, specially the ones who donated millions to the school monthly. Yes, monthly. But it was better to study in a school with people that to be homeschooled and know nothing about the human race.
Bianca crossed her arms infront of her and bit her lip. Whoever was under the sheets was too tall. She saw strands of dark brown hair from under the sheets. The hair looked a bit odd to her....
She shook her head. Focus, Bianca! Don't tell your new roommate distract you! Now go shower!
She took her pajamas and towel and entered the bathroom. As she closed the door, she swore she heard an inhuman snore coming from her new roommate. The sound was a deep growl, like the ones in horror movies. The hair at the back of her neck stood. She cringed and forced the thought to be dismissed.
Her roomate isn't a werewolf right?
Bianca slapped herself for the crazy thoughts she was having. In her 14 years of existence, she's never heard a girl snore like that. She turned on the ice-cold shower she always had. Think rational. Think Bianca.
After 10 minutes, Bianca was already done with her showed and was in her pajamas. She stared at the mirror and looked at her perfectly fair skin. Other girls had pimples, but her skin was just perfect. She smiled vainly and ran her soft fingers on her cheeks. Then she caught herself. She wrapped her hair with a towel and went back to her room.
Okay maybe it wasn't her's alone.
The hideous being under the sheets had now partially shown itself. It stretched and yawned. Again, the weirdest thing Bianca had ever seen or heard.
Luke saw the girl at the corner of his eyes. Bianca Davenport. Seeing her reminded him that he was supposed to be a girl, not stretching like some wild cat. Oh crap. My wig!
He turned to his side and felt the pins securing the wig to his own hair. Some pins got lose. He must have had a good sleep. He needed a mirror.
Bianca wanted to avoid the awkward meeting with the awakened monster. So she took her keys and went outside their room. To the veranda, where she can admire the beauty of the night. As soon as the door clicked behind her, Luke headed straight to the bathroom and fixed his wig. His uniform had become a mess.
"I guess I should change to my pajamas...crap. What time is it?!" he looked at his digital watch and saw that it was 7:55PM. He just missed his favorite meal of the day. Dinner.
He went outside the bathroom, looking like a taller-than-average girl with a boyish look on his face. He never missed dinner in his life and because of this one stupid mission he's missed it. Dad better keep his promise!
He went out to the room and opened his luggage. He had forgotten to unpack. Thinking of the unpacking he had to do made him feel like going back to bed again. He took his pajamas and changed in the bathroom.
He took his phone out of his skirt and saw 1 message from Liz.
"Hey bro! How are you? Oh ya I forgot you're my sis now. Haha! Don't miss your dinner 'kay? Love you!"
Luke tapped "Reply" on his touchscreen phone.
"I just missed it. If you loved me then you'd be here. In my place."
Luke wasn't mad at his sister. But seriously? Crossdressing?! How long will those kidnappers wait to make a move? He was dying to get any clue on who the kidnappers were so he could go back to their mansion and get half of the deal his dad promised. His own mansion and an early retirement from the undercover business. Retired at 15. He had to smile at that.
The door opened and a his roomate stared at him gapping like a fish.
Luke swallowed and cleared his throat. "Hey. I'm Luke-- I mean, Lucy."
The girl shut her mouth right away and rolled her eyes. Luke. She said "I'm Luke". As expected.
Luke never got ignored. Not even by girls. He wasn't that handsome but he was NEVER ignored.
"Ah, you must be Miss Davenport. I am Lucy Carter. A pleasure to be of your company." Luke said, mimicking his dad's introductions to his clients...in a girly voice of course.
Bianca ignored her roommate. She took out the sketch pad and started drawing.
"What a snob." Luke muttered, in his real voice.
Fortunately, Bianca didn't hear that. Luke's stomach had spoken louder.
Bianca almost laughed. "Was that your stomach?"
"Sadly, yes. I've slept through dinner." Luke said weakly, not putting much effort to sound like a girl.
"I have some cupcakes here." Bianca took a box from the table beside her bed.
Luke walked closer and took one.
"You may eat all of it. I'm not really into sweets. My mom bought those for me."
Luke's didn't hear or see Bianca anymore. All he saw was food...food...food...and it was delicious. Everything's more delicious when one's hungry. Luke forgot all female-like manners. He swallowed the last bite of the last cupcake before catching Bianca staring at him in disbelief.
"You eat like my brother. And he's a pig." Bianca stared hard at her new roommate. Lucy might as well be a monster.
Luke covered his mouth and said, "Thanks. I was really hungry."
"So uh...you're Luke?"
Luke gulped.
"Hahaha. No, I'm Lucy. Lucy Carter." Luke's voice acting failed so badly he sounded gay.
"You sound....gay." Bianca had never felt so much disbelief in her life.
Luke cleared his throat.
"Fine, call me whatever you want. But when the teacher calls me, it's Lucy." Luke hissed in a low voice, his eyes staring coldly at Bianca. That's for making my throat hurt and making me crossdress to keep you from being kidnapped!
Bianca rolled her eyes and raised her eyebrow. "Whatever Lucy. I know your secret. Now, out. of. my. face."
She pulled her blanked, hid her sketchpad under her pillow and remained hidden.
Luke sighed and turned off the lights. His mission wasn't that tough despite the fact that he had to dress like a girl and sound gay. His mission was annoying. Bianca was a pain in the neck.
Luke tried to sleep. He had his eyes shut but Bianca's words, "I know your secret" ...what was she talking about?
