The lights had turned off. The air seemed to grow frigid. There was a soft hissing noise as the capsule closed.
That was the last thing she remembered.
The entrance to Hypersleep.
The technology was still highly experimental, but the passengers seemed to have faith in this new machinery to keep them alive. The journey there would take up to two years. Eva would only be awake for three months of it.
She jolted awake, hitting her head on the capsule door. Slowly it opened, letting the cold air in and sending a shiver down her spine. Stepping out of the capsule, she noticed a few things, the first being the great lack of gravity. She seemed to bounce with each small step. Also coming out of their capsules were four other people. She assumed them to be her crew members. One of them, a French woman named Josi, she was able to recognise from the training. The other three were men of multiple different nationalities. None seemed to notice her.
Small spasms rippled through her muscles from almost two years of bone loss and radiation. No matter, they would be there soon, then she could start exercising again. For now this would have to do.
"Salve cantavit.." She spoke in Latin, the only language they were all required to know. The first man to step up had a thick Russian accent.
"привет. I am Alexei. I am commander. That is all you need to be knowing about me." He stated, rubbing his wrist.
The second man nodded. "I am Preston, second in command." Preston seemed to be Hispanic, neither one of them seemed to be the talkative type.
The third wore black glasses and looked to be Australian. "Well, I'm Jayden, I'm 32 and in charge of tech and maintenance."
Josi stepped up next. "My name is Josi. I'm from the physics department, I do the calculations."
Alexei was the first to notice Eva. "Why do we have extra?"
"Oh! You must be the representative!" Jayden noted.
She nodded. "I'm Eva, I do a bit of everything." She seemed to have inherited Al' s confidence. She was technically seventeen years younger than the youngest member of their crew.
Alexei showed little affection towards her. "Do not get in way. That is all." Preston nodded.
"Well," Josi started, "Let's go to the control room for the briefing or whatever they call it now."

A robotic voice greeted them as the hallways lit up.
"GREETINGS CREW 18 OF THE XZENOFRATZ COLONISTS. WELCOME TO THE LAST PORTION OF YOUR TRAVEL. YOU WILL LIVE IN THE TWO ROOMS DESIGNATED FOR THE CURRENT CREW FOR THE NEXT THREE MONTHS. THE SYSTEM IS PROGRAMMED TO GUIDE YOU THROUGH THE SCHEDULED EVENTS. IN THE STATE OF AN EMERGENCY, YOU MUST USE YOUR PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. YOU ARE APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS, ONE WEEK, FOUR DAYS AND EIGHT MINUTES AWAY FROM THE SCEDULED LANDING. GOODBYE."
With that, they moved to get settled in. The boys were in one room while the girls were in the other, giving Eva and Josi a space to themselves. The room had already been suited to their needs, with a bunk bed sticking out of the wall, and two small closets. There was a door to the bathroom but that was about it.
"Home sweet home, right?" Josi said, putting one of the suits in her closet on.
"I guess so."
