The one that got away

He kissed her today

He was so excited that he had to tell his best friend

She listened to the whole thing and told him of how happy she was that it worked out

She smiled but it was so fake

He couldn't notice though he was soaring

She went home and cried for the one that she couldn't have

The one that kissed a girl and was so happy

The one who would only ever be a friend

The one who could make her laugh and cry

She went home, sat on the floor, and cried for the one that got away
