You heard a knock at the door and Watson's voice shout. "(Y/N)?" You groan and slowly get up from your bed.

After the dinner last night, you went back to 221B while Holmes said he needed to go somewhere to think and unwind, which of course, you knew what that meant. He went to one of those underground fights and got into the ring to fight some burly men.

You sigh as you grab a robe and put it on over your night dress. You open your door and see Watson standing there. "Have you seen Holmes?" He asked you. "Well, after you left, we ate your dinner and was heading back here until he said he needed to leave." You said as you rub your eyes. "Bloody hell." Watson grumbles, he knew what that meant also.

"I know. Just give me a few minutes and I'll go with you." You said. Watson nods and you shut the door and start to change.

Once you change you walk out on the landing and said. "What's wrong?" "Blackwood has made a final request. And his request is to speak to Holmes." Watson said. "Oh." You said as the two of you walk out of 221 and take a cab.

Afterwhile, you and Watson walk into the pub, he goes to for the brawl, and head up to the attic. The two of you walk down a dingy hallway towards a door and open it to see Holmes sitting alone in the sterlie, barely furnished room. Holmes is facing the corner, playing scales on his violin.

Upon further observation, you notice a table in front of him and an upside beer stein sits atop of the table. Inside the stein are dozens of flies buzzing around. "Watson. (Y/N). What started merely as an experiment has brought me to the threshold of monumental discovery. Now if I play, chromatic scale there's no measurable response." Holmes said as he stares, wide eyed, at the stein and place a few scales and you see that the flies don't move.

Watson walks over to a nearby table and sees a empty bottle and he sighs. "You do know, what you're drinking is meant for eye surgery." He said. You look over at Holmes, appalled. "Holmes!" You exclaimed but he ignores you.

"But....now, and this is remarkable if I change to atonal clusters. Voila! They fly in counter-clockwise, synchronized concentric circles. As though a regimented flock." Holmes exclaims as you watch the flies do just as he said. "Watson. (Y/N). This is exceptional. I, using musical theory, have created order out from chaos." He said.

"How did you lure them?" You asked him.

"Excellent question. Individually, I've been at it for six hours." Holmes said.

"And what happens if I do this?" Watson said as he walks over to the stein and pulls it up off the table, releasing the flies. Holmes slightly jumps at this as he watches in shock and slight sadness. "Clean yourself up. You are Blackwood's last request." Watson said.

Little while later, you and the men ride in a carriage and head towards the prison. The cab passes by the half constructed mass of the bridge and you and Holmes look at it in awe. "Look at those towering structures. It's the first combination of a Bascule's suspension bridge ever attempted. Most innovative." Holmes said.

"What an industrious empire!" You exclaimed and Holmes smiles at you.

He looks over at Watson, who hasn't said a word, as he looks down at the floor. "Oh, I have your winnings from last night. You weren't there, so I made your customary bet." Holmes said as he reaches in his jacket pocket and pulls out a wade of cash.

Watson looks over at him then starts to reach out for them but you snagged it out of Holmes's hand. "How about I keep it with his checkbook, locked safely away in your drawer." You said to Holmes and Watson rolls his eyes and sits back against the seat.
